I like them and I'm glad I ordered them. I just wonder if they'll have helmet options or just those gas mask equipped heads? If they don't have any proper helmets, I'm kind of thinking that Puppetswars' power armor helmets would look really good on them.
Ouch that is one of those things you can't unsee once you've seen.

Not if they put it up as a pick of the product in their online shop and sell it as that, that is more like false/misleading advertising and i for one would be pissed if i bought something and when i got it it didn't look like the thing i ordered. Aesthetically there is a big difference between the pic and the render. I guess im spoiled by Curvus belli Infinity where showed concept = actual miniature, as it should be (even in 3D).
Prodos was up front from the beginning that this was a kickstarter the way kickstarters were intended not a pre order.

What has that to do with a concept not looking like the actual model?
I believe he means in that the Kickstarter's purpose was to help fund the development of those concept designs into an actual product, which means revisions and redesigns. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the redesign of the Orca had to do with altering it to improve stability and balance. I still think the differences between the two are pretty minor. The overall design is still pretty much the exact same thing.
About those heavy troops, would anyone be so kind as to photoshop a Puppetswar marine helmet onto the second guy from the right?

Becuase that was artwork and then they gave that artwork to a designer who might then have said "this isn't going to work", or "this is going to be a lot more expensive than if we did this". And they changed it. The reason the other kickstarters mentioned were truer to their artwork was 1. they had all been doing miniatures designing before, so they knew the pitfalls better. 2. arent those pretty much the kick starters that had the mini finished before even starting?

Why are you giving the sculptor the benefit of doubt? He might just as welll have been incompetent or careless. In the absence of evidence, either scenario is as likely.

Infinity has never done a kickstarter, they show you concept art of a design and it will look identical to the concept except posing. Their latest TAGs are all rendered in 3D. (Dont want to put pics of them in this thread, but you can look them up yourself if you want)
The first 3D rendered model they did looked identical to the concept art. They use Fausto for their 3D rendered stuff, who is good at what he does.
Out of curiosity, i would find it interesting to know the reason to why they changed it.
Its not like the Orca was a complicated design from the start.

But it would have been cheaper and easyer to produce, and be very easy to hide in games ;-)

I don't think the figures changed that much from the original concept art but to each, their own. I like them and the only thing I disagree with was the Chainripper on the guns, but it's optional so I'm cool.
On other matters the Capitol PDF is out and that made me back the Impudent Mortal KS to buy one of the big pieces for my new figures to fight inside. I hope I can fit the Orca I got through the door that would be a nasty surprise tho I don't think my eggdroids will manage

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.
About the Clans: "Those brief outbursts of sense can't hold back the wave of sibko bred, over hormoned sociopaths that they crank out though."
I agree the waist is thin but it is very hard to realistically armor the waist without it looking too bulky. The waist requires a massive amount of movement and articulation. Without very wide flaring armor (German high gothic) armoring the waist in a realistic but aesthetically pleasing way would be hard. The alternative which was used is to keep the articulation and movement in the hips and have a low amount of armor there. Look at modern body armor, usually it ends at the waist with maybe an attached or hanging trauma plate on the front and back. Gotta be able to move, bend over, crawl, etc and heavy restrictive waist armor would definately impede that.
If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!
Well, that looks good. To good even. It kinda blows most of the early renders out of the water in terms of character and quality of detail. It would be really hard for me to justify picking Cybertronic over Mishima or Capitol right now.
Well, he looks fun. I wish these Mishima and Capital renders had been available when I did the pledge manager. I probably would have got one of them over Cybertronic, and I really like the Cybertronic stuff, too.
That is such an awesome mini! Love the face especially. That's a lot of character and expression right there. The posing is also quite nice, very dynamic.
The guy you have sculpting the Mishima stuff needs a beer (which I could send 'em through the post). That is some real talent right there.
Hiroko is a girl's name...
ko is a feminine suffix...
That's why he looks so angry!
As someone whose first AND last name can become QUITE feminine sounding when pronounced in Japanese (phonetically for my first name, literal translation for my last) I understand our friend Hiroko's pain.
I've suffered through countless snickers and giggles from kids all the way up to the elderly when I introduce myself...
I'd be angry too having to endure that 24/7 like Hiroko there.
"I'M A MAN DAMMIT!"
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I agree completely and im in the same boat, wanted Cyber but will most likely go for Mishima if they continue along this path. I will have allot more fun painting these guys

To me it looks like he is cocking his rifle after a magazine change and screaming orders to someone as he is the boss.

As for Hiroko, that's not their fault he was called that in the old fluff and they went with it.
Now in comming editions i'd start using hiro as a short for hiroko (which just happens to be the masculine form of the same name) which is probably what players are going to call him anyway, and then in time phase the name Hiroko out entirely but we're far from there yet. As long as he doest start bending space and time there shouldn't be an issue.

I'm still liking the new design for the Capital infantry. But, no sleeves? And do their helmets have face masks on them or are they open? It's a little hard to tell.
@Prodos- have you guys been looking to get a US distributor for these yet?
