I'm about to come into a nice sized chunk of cash, and am thinking of making a big Forge World purchase with it. Take a sec and voice your opinion of how I should go in the poll here please! I'm really torn about what to do...

BTW I currently own a large Blood Angel army and no fantasy army at all. Any help in foguring out which way to go is most appreciated!

Go for the Reaver Titan, it is the nicest and most fulfilling model you will ever make.

I voted for another 40k army. Reason being titans and such are fun but have no use beyond apoc. And in my experiences apoc games are hard to come by, unless your area does this often, then i would vote for a warhound.

But i would suggest a non-marine army. Perhaps eldar or orks as a nice change of pace.

Reaver Titan not just gaming satisfaction a modeling dream and a great conversation piece.

Reaver Titan, because you simply cannot go wrong with laser blasters.

A new fantasy army. You are then able to play in both the main game systems.

As to which, take a month or so for the new rules to be more clearly understood and then, knowing a bit more about it, make your choice from whichever army most appeals.

OKay, here's part of my dilemma. The Thunderhawk and Titans could be used in spearhead as a super heavy spearhead. AND, as a local gamer pointed out, the warhound can be used in gladiator tourneys.

I would save your money until a couple things happen. First, they are releasing a plastic thunderhawk, so don't bother with FW. Second wait and see what the new armies that are coming out this year.

As for the titans, unless you have friends with titans to play against, I wouldn't bother unless you enjoy being called a douche.

Buy a FW army. Like Krieg or Elysians.

or get a WHF Daemon army.

I've been waiting for the plastic thunderhawk ever since that gorram apoc formation for the blood angels was published that needed THREE of the frakkers!

Not really into Necrons, Dark Eldar or Grey Knights, so a new release army might not be the way I go- if I go with a new 40K army, it'd probably be Saim Hann Eldar (used to have 60K plus of them in Epic, would be nice to have them in 40K scale too)

As for calling me a douche, we have a LOT of power gamers in my area that are actually ROOTING for a warhound in my arsenal (and the second on in my club), so not too concerned about the titan being why I get called that- I get it enough for the insanely large squad of Death Company that the new 'dex allows me!

Still watching the thread and taking in all your opinions though, thanks one and all thus far!

If you don't know what you want, that means you must be happy with what you have. So the obvious choice is to give that money to JOHIRA, who is not happy with what he has and knows exactly what he wants.

I vote Reaver. It is an awesome model to assemble. It took me over 15 hours to assemble the beast.

On the other side of the coin... I also have a thunderhawk. By far and away the WORST FORGE WORLD model I have put together. Nothing fit correctly. I believe the molds to be old/degraded or something. The warped pieces, gaps in assembly in ability to put it together in a reasonable way was unacceptable for the models cost.

Glad to hear about the bad experience with the Thunderhawk, that is officially off the table as a choice now. Between your horror story and multiple claims that the plastic T-hawk WILL arrive in stores someday in the near future I'm content to not get one.

I'm kinda surprised that the reaver is getting more votes than the warhound. A good friend on here helped me to see last night that not only is the Warhound with two arms cheaper than the t-hawk, it would still leave enough funds to ALSO get a new army of decent size! So Titans are the way I'm leaning now...

Why do you have to spend money on GW -FW products?
But if you do -
You can AND SHOULD make your own terrain.(IMO.)
As pointed out the FW thunderhawk kit is a bit of a dog breakfast.
40k is 40k...enough reason not to bother with more than 1 army
And the Reaver kit has limited use outside a APOC group.


So I go with look at WHFB 8th ed.If its not WHFUBAR, .
Get an army for it.

If WHFB 8 is a complete FUBAR, buy AoA and 2 complete armies from non GW company.
And have enough money left over for a party.

I'd definitely go with another 40k army. If you ONLY play Blood Angels then you're missing a lot of fun in the basic game, without going into new game systems and APOC expansions.

Go for something different and non-marine - if you've got a big chunk of cash you could even make that a FW army. Elysians, Tallarns, Chaos Renegades, Ork Dread Mob?

Blood Angels are the first army I played in 40K, so they are a nostaglic choice for me. I'm leaning towards getting the other army I started with, Saim Hann Eldar.

Why spend money on the only hobby I have? There's your answer- its the ONLY hobby I have, and I already spend tons on my kids, so its high time to take care of me own interests!

The titans are more for the challenge of building and painting such an epic scaled kit, not as much for game play- though plunking that big assed model on the table would be a lot of fun too at a gem! And they should also qualify for spearhead games too as they are super heavies...

Still unsure about fantasy, been playing just 40K for so long that I'm not sure I wanna learn something new.

I would purchase a new army if i had extra cash on hand..., Since you have the Blood Angels Army, I would go with Space Wolves.

Well in that case I would suggest to get the Eldar army, because you will get more use out of it. Though with the new nightspinner release that makes me wonder if Eldar are coming down the pipe soonish.

Even if they get redone soon, the models are good and not going to get redone, so it's probably a pretty safe investment. Yeah, they will tweak things here and there, but removing some guns isn't that much of a pain.

I'd also vote for the Eldar army. The FW stuff is cool and all, but it's ridiculously overpriced, fragile as hell (FW resin is crap), and in the end not nearly as versatile as another army. Plus, having multiple armies is a great way to prevent burnout, especially if they play quite differently, as Eldar and BA should.

a thunderhawk AND a warhound titan!

Especially since they are pretty much the same cost combined as the reaver with three weapon mounts!

I'll even have some cash left to start the fantasy army- most likely chaos warriors.

Now i wanna see the finished products

All the resin came in today....wow, its a LOT of model to look at!!! I ended up with a Lucius Wolf class warhound with one of every arm except the dual laser- there's two of those- and a tech priest for the inside, plus the T-hawk (which at first inspection doesn't have a lot of warping, which is a relief)

I'll start a new thread with progress shots later, now back to building the club table for Games Day (which I may also do a thread on)!!!
