Were advancing to the next round take that yea limy gits.

So if we manage to win, is that a sign of the coming apocolypse.

We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Um....the "limey gits" also advanced, though.

If there's anyone to "take that" to, it's horrible referees from Mali.

Germany had better win today, I'm waiting for 2 o'clock for the game. One thing that annoys me above all else is when the referees that call offsides smile when they do it. What reason do they have to smile?

Nope c'mon little Ghana

Let Germany play the Yankee {insert equivalent for gits here) next round!

Who knows what motivates the refs mate! They are of the same mould as Traffic Wardens (only jesting on the off chance that there are refs and traffiic wardens amongst our number!)

It seems like USA any goal that they should've gotten with any kinda craziness in the box gets scrubbed out. The only goals they couldn't call back are the obvious non-contact, ones. Every reason a ref has had to diss-allow a goal seems to happen. in the Slovenia game... they didn't even have a reason!
USA advances... barely, we won the group.... barely.
I am not sure i want to play Germany or Ghana..... or anyone from that group that could advance.

Portugal was a bit on the over kill side of things.... but in the event of a tie... they definetly have goal advantage

The US are through and deservedly so. I only hope England can show a similar team spirit in the matches to come.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

I went home to watch the 2nd half, and was frustated watching all of the chances getting missed... chance after chance. The USA should be up 3 goals to nil.

Then in the closing minutes of added time I saw the play unfold......Donovan and the USA had numbers vs the Algerian Defense. I literally stood up becuase I new...................... THIS IS IT!

And when I saw the first strike miss, it was sudden despair.....but then there was Donovan right there untouched to follow through with the winner. I almost cried it was so beautiful.

This is THE defining moment for USA soccer.

Is this the first time the USA has made it through the group phase? Surely not?

In any case, I would like to warmly congratulate our American brothers. All 'limey git' cracks aside, of course...

GG, you're a proper soccer fan, did you watch England's game? What did you think? I thought we played bloody well - it could have been 4 or 5-0. Their keeper had an awesome game!

No... it's not the first time they made it through the group phase, in fact they made it to the quarter finals a few years ago. They haven't actually won a group since 1930 though.

But this dramatic finish and the way it happened is what I mean by "defined".

And unfortunately I missed the England game because it was going on at the same time as the USA game and I didn't get to watch replays tonight.

And as far as being a proper soccer fan, I like to think that I have tapped into what the rest of the world sees in soccer. I.E. I think I "get it"

I thought that this was reported as being the first time in history that the US has made it to round 2.

Oh, and Germany can beat us at a little game. We can play Nazi zombies on our consoles and beat them in a rold war. Take that!

The limey gits wanted USA to win as well didnt they? I was pleased anyway..

Ive never met a red blooded Englishman who would rather see either of the other two fethers go through over the USA, seriously.... Algeria?!

I can do the tea, some other fether can hug im though.

I was talking to the german team.

The only reason I want England to go further is so that the US has another chance to beat them.

Why? Do you consider us big rivals or something? In footballing terms we have bigger fish to fry: Germany, Argentina and France - in that order. Most England fans would be pleased to see the USA do well. I don't think we'll ever be rivals until we start meeting regularly in the latter stages of competitions, and even then I can't see it happening because there's not enough genuine bad feeling between the two sets of supporters, certainly not on our side. Surely Mexico, Cuba or Iran would be better footballing rivals for you?

In any case, USA had to play probably the best they've ever played to draw with England. We were poor and still drew the game.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

USA actually have a heck of a good potential run to the Semi's, none of the big faves are in their way till then.

Wonder how that would effect football (insert Soccer for our US friends) in the States.

Ghana are going to be tough mind.

It wont affect soccer in the states, they hosted the world cup and that didnt do anything either.

Sorry but Uruguay, the most likely quarterfinal should the US beat ghana, on the form they have showed should beat the USA.

I'd go more... Germany, Scotland, Argentina and France. But I agree with your point that the USA aren't much of a rivalry where the england football team are concerned.

D'you know, I nearly put Scotland in there but I thought that was on their side more than ours. Are as we as bothered about them as they are about us? I don't think so, for my part. Their top 3 rivals reads: England, England and the English.

The US never burnt down the English capital. Anyways, if you think that the US doesn't consider the english as rivals, you've missed out on a lot. We're on a level similar to Scotland or Ireland minus the terror activities.

Excuses, excuses. Chances are the refs got rid of a couple goals in England's favor, we can go at this all day. They still tied.

Depends on your location doesnt it? Ive lived in the USA, i met way more pro British people than anti. Many are direct descendants and gleefully tell you about their lineage coming from somewhere in the UK, no doubt some are anti British as well. Plaggy Paddys are amusing, as they seem to be as disliked by the actual Irish as well!

Chances are the refs got rid of a couple of goals?

Did you even watch the game? Or have any knowledge at all of how soccer actually works? Id they did "get rid of" a couple of goals, i assure you people would have noticed.

You didn't watch it did you? DID YOU? How can you even comment? And in football it's a 'draw', not a 'tie'.

Ugh, I can't believe I'm responding to a troll. I must be fething slipping or something.
