Way, way cool. The only thing that's not perfect is the horns, but they could easily be filed off.

Wow.
Not sure exactly what's going on there, but it's a lovely sculpt that just oozes character, and a cracking paintjob to bring it to life.
I've been pretty impressed with all of the McVey releases so far after the first one...

No comments about the face from anyone? Faces nearly always seem to be an issue on minis portraying females.

There are quite a few female minis out there with reasonable faces. Although they're quite frequently an issue on GW females.
In this case, her face is slightly androgynous, but female enough given her build and apparent character.

Certainly an interesting mini. A pity I can't think of a way to use it in my 40k armies.

For me she has this Eureka 7 vibe.
Which is a good thing, and thus the slightly androgynous face works (as an Anime style).

Well, you probably don't play them, but this looks like a slam-dunk Dark Eldar hellion skyboard conversion... assuming they are worth taking, either as a squad or for an IC, in the upcoming Codex.

The McVey minis have generally been too big for 40K anyway. They're intended as display pieces more than for gaming.

If you've been buying GW products long enough to remember McVey's amazing dioramas for Warhammer this probably didn't enter into it at all. Oh, there's also that totally different spelling thing. The terrorist did not spell his name M-c-V-e-y. Finally, that's totally off topic and irrelevant. Stream of conciousness doesn't really contribute much to the discussion.

There are two things I really like about this sculpt.
1: She's ugly. Not in a my-sculptor-doesn't-know-how-to-sculpt-women kind of way. It looks to me to be intentional. Which adds a lot to the sculpt. If they insisted on giving her doe eyes and supermodel lips she'd look a lot less believable.
2: She DOESN'T fit an army. I like that. It's good once in a while to see sculpting done purely for the love of the subject matter, not just to plug a gap in the release schedule. There's life in this model you'll just never find in 99% of GW's kits (or other companies' supplemental models).
Punk isn't really my thing so I probably won't get it, but it's damn nice work.

Cool model, I'm too autistic to buy anything I can't slot into an army myself however...
Amazing to see Mike McVey's website however as I always wondered what happened to him, I had assumed he mentioned Squats at a Games Day or something and was black bagged by Kirby and left to die on Bodmin moor....
It was his stuff (and Tim Prow actually) who made me really want to improve as a painter.

I think he was also a sculptor for them in the beginning.
But, whatever it was, there was a kind of falling out, and he and his wife left a few years ago. Was all similar to the GW/Andy Chambers split from my POV.

His studio has been putting out some amazing work, but I'm not quite feeling this one. I think the pillar is almost overpowering the girl and her board.
Proportions are good, pose is dynamic, details pretty good but not exceptional... I think maybe it's the scale. She just gets a bit lost.
I'd like to see the board in stronger colours, and neutral colours for the pillar (lose the spraypaint, although it's technically perfect) and she'd pop more.
edit: Ah, the pillar is reflecting blue from the "propulsors" or whatever beneath her board. It makes a bit more sense, but overall it drags the eyes away from her to the base.
And I love the face. It's rare to see good female faces with a personality other than "vacant supermodel". This one definitely has character.
