I've taken the big leap!Due to the recent price increases by GW I've decided I've finished keeping the shareholders in profit.
Predominantly I'm a painter/collector and am looking for some new figure ranges to collect.Solely Sci/fi.Heres what I've collected over the years;
1)Ground zero games-stargrunt range.Cheap but can be a bit bland.
2)Rackham.Good but can be very brittle.
3)Warmachine.I've tried to like them but they lack something for my taste.
4)Pig Iron.Good but are prone to some bizarre proportions.
5)Copplestone castings.Brilliant but he stopped doing them!
6)Foundry.Good but like Pig Iron prone to bizarre proportions and are pricey.
So what do you recommend?

Wargames Factory has some nice new Sci-Fi troopers with greatcoats. They just started shipping, waiting on mine now.

try Urban mammoth.

they have some cool looking sci fi models. The game is called Urban war, but the company is caled Urban mammoth.

I'm using Warlord's pike and shotte plastic figures for my Empire army. The starter battalia box set has 54 handgunners, 24 pike (using as spear), two lots of command sprues and 24 pistolliers all for £50 (or less on some sites). They also do some really nice cannon for £12 (or less). The added bonus is that I also have an army for Warhammer ECW historical rules...

1. Malifaux
2. Infinity

Both are skirmish-level games that look like a lot of fun, with great minis.

When it comes to painting, you have MANY options as said above. If you're after mini's to game with (like 40k) then Warmachine\Hordes and Trinity seem to be the more popular ones. If not into those then you could look at board game types such as Space Hulk or Blood Bowl.

Personally GW are getting better with mini's (new blood angels=wow) however there are a lot of online websites producing finer quality in detail (Warmachine\Reaper=wow. Fem soldiers that dont look like men!!!). Also, GW cant keep up with the updates for new minis or rules which is a big let down and why people sort out these other websites. Even if its to convert non GW mini's into their 40k or Fantasy army's.

Slipstream I'm thinking about doing the same.

Things just seem to be getting worse with GW. Older gamers being shunned, prices sky rocketing, stores providing next to no actual service.

Is it time to bail and find something else or hang on in there and hope they come to their senses.

As a suggestion, try to avoid getting too invested in any one game... I mean, I have a lot of stuff for the guys I do work for, but I've also picked up the core and a couple expansions from Flames of War and many other games. I don't think any one game is the 'best game ever!' and encourage people to try other games. Sometimes you feel like a dark, foreboding future where everything sucks, sometimes you want a little hope with your combat.
