Iron Warriors were always my favorite, because they are one of the tiny minority of Chaos armies that does not have a silly gimmick or theme. They are the rare serious antagonists in a faction overwhelmingly populated with Saturday morning cartoon villains.

Black Legion - because their fluff (to me, atleast) is so sad. Their father gets pwnt and they have to go get him back, then he gets stolent and cloned, by OTHER RENEGADES! Black Legion is so mistreated

I'm stuck between Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion. Two Legions that didn't really want to be traitor. I guess I like the whole, they were forced into it story.

I agree. They're very much just stalwart soldiers who got pidgeon-holed because of their skills. I respect the Legions who aren't slaves to Chaos and have tentacles and stuff. Iron Warriors are such a Legion.

I don't really buy that the Alpha Legion was forced into anything. In fact I'd say that had more choice than most.

Thousand Sons story is a sad one. They basically were forced onto the other side just for being who they are naturally.

Yeah, you're right. The A-team wasn't forced, but they were utterly loyal and uncorrupted up to the point of their traitorhood. They thought they were doing the right thing, but were duped. Ah, the manipulators become the manipulated. Can I change my vote?

Night Lords.
Admittedly, many of the traitor legions are cool - eg. Alpha Legion, Emperors Children (whom I collect)

But Night Lords win it for me, as, in my eyes, Konrad Kurze was the best Primarch (Magnus was arrogant and deluded, I have a bit of sympathy, but not much). He fought for the Emperor and had one of the coolest looking and most effective Legions.
The Great Crusade is all about uniting humanity and through terror tactics, the Night Lords preserved human life.

In my opinion, almost all the Primarchs had flaws, but only Kurze seemed to accept his and therefore allowed himself to be killed. Seeing vindication and justice in his death.

He had betrayed the Imperium and his father and he let M'Shen kill him as justice for his wrongs, however, he knew he had done some rights as his death would cripple the Legion etc.

So yeah, Konrad Kurze = AWESOME = Favourite Traitor Legion.

hmmm. Is that why he let himself be killed? I seem to recall him saying something about how this proved his point. Not much repentance there and I don't really know what he meant by that.

Alpha Legion. Tough call between them and the Night Lords though. Really tough call.

As to why...I like their justifications, as well as their tactics. I love their background, really.

If you haven't you SOOOOOOOO have to read Soul Hunter - it really helps describe Kurze - and yeah, he proved his point. It's very complicated tbh, but I think that he united his planet and completely stopped Lawlessness, helped the Imperium and led a very effective Legion. However, his Legion became corrupt and his planet immoral and his Legion never received the recognition it deserved (Gulliman = gakker) and IIRC he saw the flaws within the Imperium and the Great Crusade (like the Alpha Legion did). As well as being plagued by his visions/foresight.

I think, and IIRC, he therefore destroyed his homeworld due to it's corruption and therefore stopped the rot of his Legion at it's source (recruiting criminals) and allowed himself to be killed as he had committed injustices and that through his death he was vindicated as it proved he was right and it would cripple his Legion. I think...

It's very complicated!

Death Guard, but not for the Nurgle love, jsut because they were very spartan like in their way of waging war, and the Thousand Sons because they were the ones who did not really have a choice in the matter. Ironic, considering 80% of SM HQ these days is a librarian
