I like 5 with tl rokkits. They are pretty great for killing transports and with the 3+ cover for turbo boosting during their scout move they can take a lot of fire without getting killed if you opponent gets first turn.

Definitely worth the fast attack choice. Sweep them forward during the scout move, launch some rokkits (or just fire big shootas) and then shred your opponent's heavy shooters in cc, or at least get them stuck fighting in melee for a couple turns. Small cost--big benefit. Also, 1st turn assaults with buzzsaws = win!

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

I've found them quite annoying when playing my Guard, so I would say they are good.

Plus, my Orky opponents seem to have great fun making helicopter noises when zooming them around.

I currently take two (at 1000pts) - both as single models with Twin Linked Rokkits and Buzzsaws. Good for dealing with the back field heavies. If they get shot up, it usually means my Trukks have survived - so win-win

They will die, usually fairly quickly, but also frequently make back their points pretty easily. And there's a psychological advantage too - making your opponent nervous and overdefensive at deployment time.

What weaponry do people usually use against them ( effectively )

Im also thinking about having Battle Wagon + burna boys , if the kopta will be a good bait

Twin-linked rokkits are pretty much a must, in my opinion, and bigbomms are useful against hordes. Buzzsaws are okay, but you're only hitting at S7 on the charge, so they're not exactly great, especially for a suicide unit; but if you have leftover points, you could spend them on worse.

In my experience - Heavy Bolters (wounds on 4+, no save ) or Meltaguns (Instant Death )

The goal is to get them to do their job before the opponent can kill them. If they get shot at, they're probably going down. Basically, if you get first turn, deploy them normally and get into range of whatever they're supposed to kill ASAP, and finish it off even sooner.

If you're going second, outflank.

Really, you should never expect a kopta to survive. Rather then screaming "WAAAAGH!," Deff Koptas like to scream "KAMIKAZE!"

Quite expensive, but they can definitely cause some havoc.

I use 2-3 in single man mobs and they' always do well for me. Last game they harassed my opponents Exorcists so that they only fired once (and that was at my Koptas), then they tied up two of his troops choices so that they couldn't get to the objectives.

Each deffkopta has a ~55% chance of hitting when using twin-linked rokkits.

Using a squad of 3 of them gives you some decent chances to crack open transports, which is a huge boon for orks. When used against AV 11, each shot has a 37% to do something against the target, and a ~9% to destroy the target. Thats a pretty reasonable chance to destroy tanks.

I would never use three in a squad. If one dies, you're rollling Ld on 7 and fleeing 3d6.

How about their special bombs?
If im not reading it wrong , it doesnt count as shooting attack so it can bomb one unit and assault a different one?

Bombs are pretty much garbage, 15pts for a one shot that's only useful against hordes when Koptas should be targeting tanks.

I've had great success with 3 deffkoptas with tl rockets. They wiped out a crisis team first turn.

For that emperor guy!!
