Subject: What if the Emperor is dead.

Lets say that, somehow, the Emperor died. And everyone knew. Every single man, woman, and child of every race knows. BUT the barriors blocking chaos from mass popping into exsistance are still there. (So chaos is till restricted the same way. No mass deaom popping on Terra now. But the Emperor is dead). A better explanation is that the emperor still has all his power, but his body wasted away infornt of preety much everyone. Would the Imperium crumble into small empires and have to be runited. Would systems go renegade. And what about the SoB. Would it be mass genocide, or would they kill themselves. And the Space marines, the guard, the Machine cult, everyone really, what would they do?

The Mechanicus would sit back and wait till the Imperium crumbled to pick up the pieces and bring the glory of the Machine cult to the worlds that need new light bulbs.
The SoB would become an arm of the Inquisition till they burned themselves out entirely.
The Marines would wise up and stake out worlds where they could harvest new recruits and keep their islands in space as safe as they could until they ran out of replacement parts for their ships and equipment.
Then they would stagnate and sit still on their prison worlds safe and secure.
The Eldar would die out peacefully no longer hunted by the Imperium.
The Dark Eldar would grind down a few Marine Islands, and continue on as usual till the tech cult got everyone back in space again.
The Tau would say ' whew' and be glad they only have to deal with the Necrons, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, and Orks.
The Necrons would sleep on whatever world they were sleeping on only waking when some tool woke them with melta bombs.
The Orks would continue to loose ships to the warp and pop out randomly wherever.
The Tyranids would locust their way across space till they ran into a Powerful Tau led alliance of Eldar, Orks and Mechanicus.
The Chaos forces would spread like the tyranids till they ran into the Tau alliance. They would wisely wait till the Tau alliance collapsed after the Mechanicus back stabbed the rest of the alliance, then the Daemons would sweep the galaxy clear of all pure..... and ..........not Chaos. The Daemons would win because they have already won. They control the warp, they control the universe. In the end it will come down to the Necrons and Daemons slugging it out.
The Daemons having done the work of the Necrons for them will just go back into the warp and wait till the end of time for the Necrons to eventaully die out.
The end is Chaos, last faction Standing, it might be in an alternate universe. But last time I checked there are no sun to eat in the Warp. The Daemons would win after mopping up the starving Necrons millions and millions of years later.

Lol im just having fun with it.
In all seriousness though, i think the Emperor finishing kicking the bucket would send waves of upheaval through the Imperium.
Besides how cool would " For The .......guy in the chair!!!!" sound over the din of the bolters and chain swords?
No sarcasm or malice intended, just like the idea and Im a little silly now and then.

No, actually, the Emperor dying has several pretty severe effects, at least on the Imperium.
For one, the Emperor is (allegedly) keeping up a psychic barrier that keeps the forces of Chaos from simply pouring into our universe at will. So if he goes, the end of days is more or less upon the Imperium.
To make matters even more fun, the Emperor is also the one broadcasting the Astronomican. Nobody else knows how he does it, or has the power to do it if they did know how. So if he goes, space travel beyond the system-level goes back to where it was before the Great Crusade... short distance, or completely random long-distance hops. The Imperium would be completely crippled.

*insert yo momma joke involving three donkeys, a wrench, and a bucket of BBQ sauce here*
But anyway, I imagine the following two things are pretty much assured:
1: The light of the astronomican dims drastically, assuming it still burns. This makes long-distance travel extremely difficult, meaning that ships must constantly phase in and out of the warp in order to get their bearing, resulting in slower travel.
2: A religious upheaval begins, partially because of number one making the Imperium even slower to respond.

I reckon that if the emperor died then Roboute would heal faster for no apparent reason, then get up, then become emperor mark II.
Terra would be munched by Chaos deamons, the empire would be munched by everyone, the orks would join in at Terra and get munched whilst munching, Roboute would lead all the Ultramarine founding chapters into the eye of terror and between them and CSM there would be much munching on both sides. Ultramar would be munched by 'nid while Roboute is away, the imperial guard would be munched by just about everyone, the SOB would munch themselves out of grief, and finally the Necrons would wake up and realise they has missed all of the munching...

Good points insaniak, but I was asking more what would the imperium do, as in splinter, collapse, or something else. As I said in the first post, everything he did is STILL there, so chaos poping in at will and warp travel becoming non exsistant wont happen. Because we all know that, if thouse went away, the imperium would cease to exsist. I am talking like his body turns to dust, but all of his powers are still present. Similar to Christ dieing on the cross. He didnt cease to exsist, but his body was gone.

Yeah but hes speculating on what would happen to the Imperium if word got out, but the technology was still in place. His "What if?" is if the structure remained in place but the symbol lost its luster.
i posted my view already. i think it would be the beginning of the end of the Imperium.
Like I said " For the Emperor" is awesome and sounds cool
" For the Guy in the chair" not really inspirational, or motivating. The whole success of the Imperium like any other government structure is the power of its propaganda. And the Emperor is a great figure head.

He may speculate, but the Custodes aren't known to let any word out...
So were back to:
-the Emperor may or may not sit on that golden toilet.
-99,99% will never get an audience to look for themselves if he's there
-nobody high up in the food chain of the IoM has any interest to loose the figure-head.
Conclusion: your chances to get this "what if" working are non-existant.

I agree its implausible, but an interesting speculation. The Custodians and the Administratum would keep this tidbit as quiet as they could. it would completely undermine them and finally cause infinite infighting and rivalry...........Wait it already does that.

Yeah Chaos will win in the end. Like i said in the second post, Necrons will eventually kill everything and go to Chaos in the warp after they have eaten all the suns. There they will fight, and starve and Die. There are no suns to feed on in the Warp.

Not really, as:
Chaos = the auto-losers of every single games universe....
And no, necrons do not care to enter the warp. They do shut off the warp. No food for the warpspawn = they starve.
Remember, the "fuel" of the warp isn't generated by C'tan or Necrons.
But suns are there plenty of in the galaxy. The undead soulless minions and their masters would love to be the last in a one on one
vs the warp. Since the Necrons could afford to exist without any other living creature around, but chaos cannot.

The NEcrons would be fine with that. The C'tan, however, would not. Eating just suns would be boring.

The daemons would run rampant, the Eldar would finally die off, the Nyds would eat every one, the Necron would vaporize everyone the Tau will die faster, the Imperium will no longer exsist and the Orks will do what orks do.
Finally when all is said and done, because all the races would be destroyed the Chaos Gods would no long exsist because then their would be no more emotion with in the universe.
So in Short.
EVERYONE would lose. Just like now.

Daemons would break through the psychic barrier that the Fasle Empreror holds up. All Imperium, including Terra, would die, and rapidly! With Daemons running around loose, they would kill everyone. As badass and scary as Necrons and Nids are, you just can't hold out forever against an endless supply of DAEMONS. Let's face it, the Emperor is the only one preventing the Chaos gods from raping and completely destroying the universe.

Except theres one problem. As I posted in the first post, that barrier IS STILL THERE IN FULL FORCE. If you cant break it now, you cant break it during this timeline either. The question is more focused on what would happen to the IMPERIUM as, well, their god is dead in the flesh. No one would know that he is still present, just not in mortal form. I get it that "CHAOS WINS HURR!", but thats not the point. I am asking about internal, not external, conflict here.
