Well, he's got the extra special "GW-leering tongue" disease...

Huh.

Hrm.... I have to say, I think the placement of the skulls around the groin area could have used more thought. Unless, what it brought to mind for me is what they're going for...

I'm also wishing for a more dynamic pose, rather than... leaning forward and threatening to lick you with that crazy tongue... rather than using the giant sword he's carrying!

They didn't steal any ideas from GW at all. No way never.

Avatars of War was started by an ex-GW sculptor, to produce WHFB-styled character models.

So not so much stealing ideas as sculpting what he knows... And by and large, doing it better than GW.

Be great for a khorne DP or GD.

Can't you see we have been abandoned? Forget matters of duty and honor to the emperor this is now a matter of pride.

My only problem with it is that the pose is a little on the static side.

Mixed feelings about it.
fwiw also feel the static pose a tad disappointing.
The detailing looks pretty darn good to me.

It does look like he is trying to intimidate with shouting, possibly something along the lines of, "Give us a lick of ya lolly!"

Actually he maybe did lick the lolly and he is doing that thing kids do when their tongues go the colour of the sweets!

"Is my tongue blue too huh? huh? is it? yours is! Tee hee!"

I'm just glad there's someone out there filling in the gaps of GW's model line.

Bat
please change your avatar, me scared!

BTW my flippancy is not meant to be disrespectful
I rate the Avatar minis a lot and will probably get more

They do seem to have lost a bit of edge with the last couple of releases, but then the standards are high imho that we maybe expect great things all the while.

Oh sweet jesus, that's awesome! Is that a 25 or 40mm base? Depending on the size that could make a sweet DP/ generic GD as stated previously.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

I think it's good that there is a company making Heralds even if GW won't.

I like it because it fills the gap (as pointed out by HBMC) that GW won't foll.

I got to see the whole range assembled a couple weeks ago and I'll be buying up a heap of them.

Friend of mine has the Chaos Lord model. They're great sculpts.

Plus they have Mark Gibbons doing concept artwork for them, and they basically just make his artwork into models, and that's awesome.

It looks nice and all, but I won't say it's better than Skulltaker just because of the pose.

I love it, I can't wait to add this one to my collection. I own almost all the Avatars of War models, they are super nicely detailed sculpts.

I like the pose on this one. It portrays a feeling of deep confidence, to the point of amusement. A badass with a sense of humor.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I think the pose is okay. The model itself is pretty good. Though the face needs to be grinded off and re-sculpted if I was ever to get one.
