Oh. That Guardsman is gone? I'm afraid he's correct on all counts, although asking me for a sterilization is possibly the best course of action.

Because of his training telling him that he was expendable, he thought that he should leave before he hurt Marla with his death.

Honestly I think he was blowing it out of proportion, but that's just my opinion.

*siiiip*

He's not wrong. Most guardsmen ARE expendable. The only ones not expendable are the ones with stupid amounts of plot armor, look at Sly Marbo, Sergeant Merrick, Jeran Kell, Sergeant Lukas Bastonne, Harker, Creed, Straken... You see my point?

Hopefully one day I'll get some good plot armor...

Not that I need it.

...You're not getting it. My point is he's a nobody in the eyes of the imperium, as much as none of you want to hear it. He's right, and no amount of 'I believe in you' or 'It's not going to happen' will change it. Everybody can die, Guardsmen just die more often.

Also I don't think it really matters what this imperium thinks, honestly to me it sounds like people take it way to seriously.

Now... Hunter. Right now Marla needs none of your gak. None.
Now as my younger sister if you hurt her, I will turn you into a kebab. Before I kill you.

Now otherwise, if you want to join us eating ice cream and try to be nice. I have no problem with you at all.
I'm Maria by the way, I also knew wk, we all went to same schola.... Mike to, before he got recruited.

Oh fine. Yes Marla can be difficult but she,s also human. And can be hurt. So be nice.

So you'd prefer me to straight up lie to her? If you want me to lie and hide people from the reality of the world we are in, tough. This isn't some fantasy universe where death is merely 'passing on' and you will reunite with them. I embrace it, meanwhile you all get so afraid that you're willing to fight people who say the truth so you can ignore it for as long as you can and die a cowards death.

So, are you going to pull that trigger and prove me right? Or are you going to accept WK knew what was best, and went with it. Because life isn't a field of daisies, you're going to get spat on, hurt, it happens. Are you going to move along past it and become a better person from it, or are you going to try and bury it; supress it so you can live in your ignorant little box where 'everything is SUNSHINE and RAINBOWS'. Yarrick, you should know as well. Everybody in the imperium knows the Guardsman is a mere pawn when facing the likes of Massive Daemonspawn, dozens of heretics, Chaos Astartes, the entire WORLD is a danger. And I see it for what it is, a hellhole. But I don't let it control me, I don't take everything as some sort of 'major travesty' because I've had my own; Visit a graveyard and you'll see millions and millions of dead bodies buried, and their families thought the same thing as Marla is; He was my special boy, that was my loving husband, a caring brother, uncle. What makes WK any different from those guardsmen? The Guardsmen who also had families they never got to go back to? You think Marlas the only one that's suffered, and should be babied even though she is a SOLDIER? I don't care if you're the Lord Solar, nobody should be babied and live in a protective veil of ignorance.

Don,t you think I known that.t he picture is big... yeah everything in the giant scale we are nothing.

But in the small human scale, the scale that gives us hope, who we fight for. It's fething everything.

Those guardsmen did die fighting but for those families at home, for those friends. Thats what motivates the guard. In battle you fight for your fellow sisters not the Impirium.... the Impirium is the overriding thing that binds us all. Each person fights for each other, the Impirium binds the people's.

Damn you unfeeling robot...

Did you really think it would last? You married a guardsman. A private first class, you may think on the human scale he matters but on a level like the generals; they don't care.

*slowly reached into his breastplate and took out a ring connected to a chain on his neck*

I know loss as well.

Then.....wait..... you know. You know even if it lasts only a short time it's more valuable than nothing that lasts a eternity. It ment everything. I cared that's what matters..

[Pinches bridge of nose] Hunter, why are you actually here, if you don't respect anyone enough to go a day without actively trying to hurt their feelings?

Marla is a Sister, a medic. You think she is somehow blind to death, simply due to loving a man? Being able to suspend disbelief and ignore that bitter truth long enough to hold happiness in your hands... that's the only thing we have.

Or are you so fething jaded that you can't bear to see other people happy any more?
