Well..today is the day. We take our yearly pilgrimage to GenCon. Very Exciting!

Dave are you close enough to dive home each day, o do you only go for one day? Also picture of the usual your taking to pick up the supply drop I necessary.

Well, we could drive home everyday, 1.5 hr. drive, but that's just silly, as stuff is always going on 24/7 for the 4 days. We book the hotel as soon as we can in May, (you have to- with 45,000 attendees last year, you wont get one. we'll be home Sunday. Plenty of pictures will be forthcoming..especially the ever-important supply drops!

It's the largest gaming get together here in the states as far as I'm aware of. It used to be up in mi hogan back when tsr were the big dogs. Most game companies make it to the event with thousands of tables to buy at. It's when the big boys usually show off their next big releases, so expect the news and rumors pages to go insane this weekend with pics. Some companies have already been showing their wares this week, but will have stock at the con, generally with big discounts so they don't need to haul it home. All the local stores here have been loading their uhauls to take up there.

I'm waiting for the dreamforge games pics of the leviathan Mortis, and their 15mm versions as well as all the weapon arms. Hawk games just showed off their new starter box with plastic figs a few hours ago. I wouldn't be surprised if GW actually showed something off since they've leaked space marine pics lately.

Ahhhhhh COOL! while I love Tasmania to bits sometimes I really feel left out of the loop! I don't have any GW stores in my state or tournaments or Golden Demon or GenCon's :-( only 2 stockists of a minute amount of GW products so you guys are really my one link to knowing what;s happening! :-) I'd love to see something like that one day, it sounds like the Nerd version of Auto Salon?

It's the best four days in gaming!

This is what my British friends call..a queue to get into the Dealer hall opening day.

Many more pics to come later, but the WiFi here is waaay over capacity, ANOTHER record-breaking attendance year. And I'm forced to use my phone as a hotspot. It never stops, all night, all day, every table in every lobby in every connected hotel and conference building is full of people playing games.

I talked to our very own Brian for awhile today. He's a Busy man (and was wearing a white Admiral's hat too) Running fleets of Starships. We'll have to kidnap him for Dinner or beers one of these nights.

Wow, that's some serious volume of nerds and geeks... I thought SALUTE '13 was busy this year, but GenCon just stomped all over that, look forward to seeing the pics...

and I only ever was in such a "queue" once with my son... and it was all I could do not to panic... after all I was with my son... so no panic allowed....

Ah, the qeue reminded me of many a Trek convention, the Army, and the NY DMV all at once!

I hate opening day at anything. Too many bodies trying to crush through the door. Also most gamers need extra space between them, especially he teenage ones, cause they get kinda ripe.

In previous management issues I've had to ask mployees if they've showered in the past week because customers complained. Unfortunately the answer was "no", she had an excuse, but it wasn't a good one .

well... sometimes females smell quite better unshowered than males after the same length of time...tho... you don´t often get that lucky^^...

This gal was funky, and not in a dancing type fashion. She smelled like old tuna fish sandwiches. She couldn't shower daily cause lived in an apartment building and the pipes rattled really loudly and wake her neighbors. We told her to shower n the evening then, so it would cut down the smell, but that woke up other neighbors.

Had to deal with this in the past myself, at least mine was a fella, you can tell a man he stinks. Ladies you have to be slightly more subtle.

I should imagine Dave is pretty hip deep in "tuna" with those crowds.

Long, long ago when I could be bothered to visit a game store, it usually had half a dozen smelly blokes in T-shirts, hanging around with a bunch of smellier kids. That was bad enough, let alone thousands of like minded individuals, with personal hygiene last on the list of priorities.

Probably smells like Dr.H's hut by now.......

My Hut smells lovely with all the flowers and the more than adequate ventilation... maybe alien mould doesn't smell bad either...

Haha- no tuna smells, but GenCon is famous for *some* gamers stinking up the place. The Crop Dusting/Mystery shopping is the worst. Really? you have to shiit yourself in this crowd? really?

Some people are really just a pile of nurglings in a suit it seems...
