Just a bit of fun this. And also im a bit curious too.
What race would you be? Consider all reasons, not just because you collect that army or you want to be a big monster but also about things like survival, e.g. i don't want to be a grot because i'd get trod on etc. And maybe even, at risk of sounding y, one that reflects your personality e.g. I go around eating things so id like to be a tyranid. The poll is mainly on what race but you could specify a unit if you wanted, e.g. i like motorbikes so i'll be a SM biker. Etc, etc....

Eldar have very long lifetimes to explore so many things... try out the Path of the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker and so on. If I was lucky enough to be on one of those few craftworlds that just floats around unnoticed and not bothered with... just doing whatever catches my fancy, mastering whatever my interest is in then moving on to the next interest. That would be a very serene life.
Orks seem to be having the most fun though. They don't feel much pain, they don't have any responsibility, they instinct what they need to know instead of having to study it, they just do whatever they want... which unfortunately is mostly just beating on stuff, but hey if that's what you want to do who can argue? They have Grots to do all the crappy jobs for them. What's not to like?
Unfortunately, they don't really live very long, their lifestyle while fun, is also pretty self-destructive and although they are having a great time zooming around and smashing stuff... the party usually ends in a gory mess, so that's the only reason I didn't pick ork.

i think eldar makes the most sense, thou i choose IG, just because they seem the most human and real out of the races to me, they seem the closest to people on earth and so i feel they would be the easiest to relate to and deal with. thou it would suck to be canonfodder.

Though I would not mind being human. A Necron would be a nice change of pace - nothing to think about, just walk about shooting things for eternity.

They don't just hate... they LOVE to hate. However I think I could get a kick out of being a Khorne berserker.... Kharn has lots of fun doing what he does... However, again like with the orks, having fun destroying things will lead to a miserable existance when not destroying things. Now your god is mad at you, etc. Being a traitor marine is being a slave. Even the Daemon Princes and Chaos Lords have to obey their masters if they want to keep their power and their pride.
Eldar don't obey anything except their own chosen path, or are free to go off the path as an 'outcast' and return whenever they choose. They have no concept of 'rank', just 'role'. They listen to the Autarch when in battle because that's why he is there. They listen to the Farseer for all the big desicions because he knows best due to his predictability powers. The Farseer also listens to the potter regarding anything pottery oriented, the potter listens to the exarch when training with a shuriken cataput. All Eldar are trained as warriors out of necessity for the 'just in case' scenario, but Guardians only serve out of need, not out of a desire to make war. Eldar learned from their mistakes with the Fall, and found serenity, unfortunately almost going extinct at the same time. They may be few now, but, if they are lucky enough to be left alone, they live long wonderful lives of exploration of all things possible and master every craft they can imagine. That beats having to pile up skulls every night to make sure Khorne is pleased.

Most likely an Ork. This quote for the most part sums up why
"The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork woulden't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude."
-Uthan the Perverse, Eldar Philosopher
This wrings true for me in that I'm a very care free person, while other people waste their time and worry about things that are out of their controle or may not even happen I just don't even think about it.
Also I am an adrenaline junky so I can relate to the the Speed Freaks as well as the love of a good challange which comes from playing rugby.

The thing about eldar is that they're race is dying out, i wouldn't like to be part of a dying race, no matter how cool they are. True it'd be easy if your craftworld wasn't noticed, and i like the idea of being psychic but still don't like being part of a dying race.

I am surprised how many votes there are for GK. Do people really want power and awesomeness that much when it comes with a completely monastic warrior monk existance of unending- responsibility-and--then-you-die. Not much fun in my opinion. Badass yes, but enjoyable... erm... no. But so far they are ahead in the polls.
So far I have seen, from a purely psychological position... people who just want to have fun going on a rampage have pick orks, people full of anger pick chaos, Daemons for mortality reasons, Eldar who just want to do their own thing, and Marines wanting to be powerful and dominating. Maybe GW should release a psychological textbook because every one of those reasons is right up there with the fluff of each species.
Now Space Wolves aren't on the list, which skews the results because anyone who would want SW still have to vote SM, despite the vastly different culture...
"wait a minute! I get to be huge and strong and mighty AND get to party hard, vent my frustration in battle, AND don't have to spend all my spare time in church!?" tempting...

Dear DakkaDakka,
I pick Sister of Battle. Though it's a tough life, I'd be able to handle it because I would be thoroughly conditioned and trained to! I've spent so much of my life wanting to be sure about what I believe in. With the Sisters, you don't just believe, you "know"! Plus no matter how long lived a race I chose I know I'd get shot dead in my first battle. So it's better if I know I was dying for something I really believed in!
