The title pretty much sums my question up. I vote for Mat.

Dave Taylor.

Oh, wait. He doesn't work for them anymore.
He was still editor last time I paid for a copy of it.

Justin "booster" keyes was pretty cool too, but I used to go clubbing with his (now) wife.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Hi Cadichan Support! I just bought the latest White Dwarf (with the cool Daemon articles!), but honestly I haven't been buying them since Fat Bloke was making White Scar dreadnoughts.

Instead, may I vote for my favorite all time White Dwarf guy? Rick Priestly! He did a wonderful article on painting High Elf spearmen way back when. It was refreshing and inspiring! His article wasn't about painting like Golden Demon, it was about putting together a regiment quickly with tabletop quality.

I love to 'Ooh' and 'Aah' over White Dwarf staff painted models, they are gorgeous! For me it's both inspiring and intimidating. Inspiring because it makes the hobby look so good, and the life like appearance of the models makes me forget it's a game for a moment. Intimidating because it can make me set a standard for my painting I am not able to achieve, which is frustrating. So I will always remember that article it was my favorite and still is after all these years!

Hooray for Rick Priestly and White Dwarf! May you live forever!

Fat Bloke in his early editor days when he was not yet constrained more and more by management on how the magazine 'should' be. You just saw the poor guy having less fun at his job as the years went by.

Hell yes. I remember the good old days of his Beastmen army in the tale of 4 gamers where he always made sure he had money left over to buy a bacon sarnie

Yes I remember that! Those were by far the "Golden Days" of WD I think, with people like Chambers and Sawyer on board. That tale of 4 gamers article was fantastic! I just can't seem to get into the new one on the GW website, I think the fact that in the old one they told you exactly how much they'd spent etc, and could spend spare £ on bitz from the ordering service made it different. I used to like Space McQuirk too, I know he wasn't a main team member per se. I saw him outside Ikea in Derbyshire once sat in a VW Van asleep...

I cast another vote for Dave Taylor.

Stupidest thing GW ever did was cut him loose.

Although, I suppose I should be thankful as it then opened up his schedule enough so that I got to get in line with him for some commission work!

Stillmania was good... fat bloke was ok.
Now it is just a big advert. There is nothing in it. The battle reports are staged "oh look the new XYZ died but that's ok as it was a 'practice' game!"

Grand ork warlord adrian wood was always a favourite of mine, especially the deffdreads he built way WAY back made out of the OOP squig catapults + epic tital bits!

Other than that, fat bloke was the best editor, and the line up that had the two guys who looked very alike (but were in fact totally unrelated) and the lizardman guy nick something, that was quite some time ago, but since WD became a LoTR catalogue I've been less impressed. Still buy the thing every bloody month though...

Though I will say I do kind of enjoy Jervis's Standard Bearer, I just like the way he rambles on about stuff (yes I know marketing probably has the gun to his head while he speaks, but he seems to be enjoying it!) and it brings 2 important things to the ailing magazine, 1) a little bit of dry dusty humour that make me chuckle for the 5 minutes it takes me to read it 2) another 2-3 pages that aren't pictures of LoTR models!

I used to read it fanatically in the Sawyer era, remember the "Lion and the Wolf" two page fluff spread? Awesome stuff.
They used to do great terrain and theme articles too. I find the current version a bit souless, and not as well written. Ah well. Could be that I've grown up a bit.

Wow a thread about which WD staffer we have a "man crush" on!!!

I'd have to say Graham Davey. While he sort of looks like a "metro" Harry Potter, he is really sensitive and his baby blues are so dreamy I could get lost in them for days...

Wait, did I just say too much?
