Hello All,
I attempted to apply transfers on my Space Marines with some success and failures. Is there a trick to getting them to stick? Some dont want to and others came off when I was applying my finishing seal on them. Using Testors Dullcote if that matters.

Thanks in advance for all the advice!

mix some PVA into the water you are using, too the point where is is a similar colour and consistancy to milk. this provides 'tak' to the surface and a protective layer, dulcote afterwards to remove the shine

Another thing that works is to gloss coat the areas that are to receive decals get some solvaset paint the area with that just before you put on the decal place the decal on the solution and let dry
the decal will look wrinkled don't worry this is normal paint more solvaset till the decal lays flat then seal it with dullcoat

i would say dont try it on your next batch of marines right away. try it out on some peices of plastic that you didnt pay of the nose for incase you make some sort of mistake. anytime anyone is trying out a new painting technique use some dummy plastic or some model you dont care about. dont experiment on your brand new crisp and pretty minis. this makes me think of all the threads i see that make my insides ache where someone has put alot of work and love into a model, sprayed it with sealing spray and they get something that looks like it came out of my freezer.

Gloss coat under the decal.
Apply decal. Overpaint the edges of the decal to hide the lines (use the colour that is underneath the decal).
MATT varnish over the area after decal dries.

Also there is a pair of products called 'Micro-Sol' and 'Micro-set' that are of use here.

The first softens and melts the decal onto the surface for a better fit (like to curves). The second hardens them again.

Matt varnish to hide the silvering as normal.

I can highly recommend Micro Set and Micro Sol having been introduced to their wonders recently.
