Just been caught out on eBay!

Saw a Space Marine Whirlwind on there going for a paltry amount, brand new on sprues.

I thought to myself, "it seems a bit low in price, lets see if I win".
Next thing I was outbid, so then I upped my bid. Next to no time I was the proud owner of said item and, being honest, I didn't really need it!

What's your most impulsive buy?

I bought the WFB Anniversary High Elves box set (the one that came with like 20 Phoenix Guard, 20 White Lions, Dragon Noble, and a bunch of other crap) right before they stopped selling those things.

One of the few times a GW employee has been able to coax me to spend a stupid amount of cash in a GW store all at once.

Buying two Chaos battalions, two boxes of choosens and a maraduer horseman box. That was my most impulsive buy ever. Also my most expensive

I bought a 2000 point Tau army when the original codex was released. I also bought a 2500 point tyranid army when the 3rd edition codex came out (because of the new warrior models!)

Both were sold quickly afterwards. I still buy complete armies but not on impulse any more.

Everything I buy from their store is impulsive because the better half of my brain and my better half tell me how silly it is to spend $35-$60 on a piece of plastic.

The most impulsive though had to be when I started a DA army with $200 of my $300 pay check in college. If it weren't for Ramen noodels, I would have starved.

I'm currently on the fence about buying a 1/35 scale AC-130 "Spectre" gunship kit.

To give you an idea as to the size of this thing...it'll put the Manta to shame.

My land raider. I have no idea why I bought it. Seemed cool at the time, right after I bought aobr.

Limited edition kit in the works by AFV Club Taiwan.

They're not sure if they're even going to do it, but man. If they do it's going to put a hurting on my wallet.

Turned brass barrels, photoetched brass shells, photoetched deck plating, niches for installing lighting, resin crew figures, etc.

After that, I got a codex and things became deliberate.

A friend with more money than sense bought the casteus assault ram.

My dragon ogre Shaggoth. At the time of purchase I had been working on an Empire army. Had no intentions of starting a Chaos army of any sort, but that actually started my then hordes of chaos and now WoC.

Two so far:

1. I was putting together a small Forge World order - a few Chimera turrets and conversion kits and then thought... why not buy a Macharius? It had just come out, so I did.

2. I was in a bad mood, so I went to GW and bought a 3000 point Death Guard army.

That and a pair of smaller ones i plan on use as valkyries

And this that i was going to use as Ad Mech vehicle of some sort ( or Tau if i ever get into it )

I got 3 of the things in 3 weeks after getting AOBR. Worth it.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who gets impulsive with Forge World.

Haven't ever bought anything more than a Containment Pylon or Generator though.

Probably my most impulsive buy was an eBay Witch Hunters force: 60+ Sisters, 16 Kasrkin, 20 Repentia, 12 Seraphim, 6 Arco flags, 3 Penitent Engines, St. Celestine, 3 Inquisitors with every henchman sculpt, a Chimera, 3 Immies, and an Exorcist. Paid around $400 IIRC, so even though it was impulsive, it was far from being stupid!

I did something similar to what Jin did only it was the twenty fifth ann. for skaven. Got rid of it because i didnt like the rules for fantasy after i bought the army. Yeah rule of thumb dont buy something and then read about it later.

Well my last impulse buy at FW was a lot smaller. Two days ago I bought two Vendetta Conversion Kits and then thought, why not, let's chuck in a quartet of Psycannon Razorback turrets. Not 100% sure what I'll use them for yet, but I do know that all the turrets of that style fit into the Planetstrike turret housings, so I could do an Inquisitorial Fortress w/automated Psycannon Turrets.

Stop giving me ideas, HBMC!

Did you know that the Tarantula "hub" also fits nicely into those turret housings?

Not modell related, but I took my friends kids out shopping today (I missed a few Birthdays) and made the mistake of letting them loose in the Disney Store.

I staggered out 15 minutes later £124 worse off! But the sprogs were happy, so it's all good really!

Oh, there was also the time that the Empire Brigade box was being re-released. I'd been planning an Empire force for some time, but with the relatively awesome pricing of the Box + the Warstore's discount, I couldn't NOT buy it.

I have never bought anything 40k on impulse but I'm sure it's going to be something apoc sized from FW.

Space hulk termies.
Saw them, wanted them, only just started to paint them.
Granted, got 5 for £10, so didnt lose anything really.
Also, it was the 1st time ive looked at a GW model and thought "wow, these are great quality" (simply for all of the detail in a simple cast)



after that ive now started building an army around them lol (basic termies suck too much in BA lists since there is alot of better choices, but im stuck with em now)

It was so impulsive that I called back either the next day or that same night and cancelled my order >.<

3 boxes of Space Hulk, a space wolves army, and 26 various paints and spraycans.

Tyranid bio titan. Have yet to use it and could have bought a lot of other stuff instead.

I had a good sum of money and I bought, 1 standard metal plague marine squads, Chaos Tac squads (to convert into plagues), a havoc squad, Lucius the Enternal, and TONS of greenstuff. Not only was I unprepared, the army was a TOTAL epic fail. Learned my lesson for good, I wish i had that cash back in my wallet :(

But it was birthday I couldnt help it LOL!

Went into the store the week Space Hulk came out. I swore I wouldn't buy it because of GW's stupid "it's not Space Hulk but it obviously is" advertising. I walked out with a copy 30 minutes later.

Shameful.
