Didn't see this one posted yet... I have no idea about the studio (based in France), prices or whatever, but dang, that's a nice Spore Pod!

A bit undetailed on the inside, but here's a scale shot...

Edit: Price is 35.00 €, plus shipping of course...

I cannot figure out if I like it or not.

Maybe a bit too. . .flowery?

Or not.

I like the tentacles though, for certain.

In any case it looks a lot better than the ones I made.

Excellent idea.
Will probably make a similar one myself, but with less flowery feel and sharper edges ala tyra chitin.

It's perfect!!! Between this and the boneswords & lashwhips from Paulson games, I feel a Tyranid army is more and more definitely in my future.

Uh, I just went to the website you linked to, and it's in French!!! Any way to convert it into English?

I'm still deciding if I like it or not.

Pros:
-Very sharp lines and crisp detail
-Has the definite image of what the pod is equipped with and provides it in a simple fashion.

Cons:
-The "flower" look is way too prevalent.
-It's footprint is HUGE. The size of those lash whips alone could be cut back significantly; they're laying out the entire length of a trygon from the base to the tip. This could make table placement difficult if not impossible in some cases.

I'd say it's a good start. But I'd like to see more teeth, gills, and sharp edges to it before I'd give it my approval. Also, cut those tentacles down by half.

EDIT: After looking at the website I have to give a thumbs down. The interior is not a simple case of a lack of detail, it's a case of the sculptor not bothering to finish his work. You can clearly see what appears to be the model skin where the sculpting material was just not bothered to be smoothed down compared to the rest, giving it a nice look from the outside by a very much "work in progress look" from any other angle.

I like the floweriness. Shows the 'Nids coopting yet another class of lifeform into their hivefleet. Plus it's form suggests it's function (petals peeling open).

Those tentacles ROCK either way.

What does _not_ rock is the price. It's not exorbitant, but isn't low enough to allow one to buy the 4 or 5 one would need. Transports should be cheap, folks. Then people will buy lots of them.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Agreed its a bit too flowery. I picture ripper tentacles being wrapped around it and uncoiling and slashing everything in the area. Also I think the spore would be more like a circle egg kind of thing, with a dedicated opening area. Nids just bust through where the can and eat stuff.

I think the "floweriness" is more from the paintjob than from the mini itself.

I like them, but that ain't cheap.

Those tentacles are kind of ridiculous, and it does look like a flower with some carapace stuck on it. Glad people are working to fill in the gap GW is leaving open though.

It looks excellent: it's the right size, follows the Tyranid aesthetic perfectly, and the tentacles actually look like they could function as a shooting attack.

Sadly, yes, you are correct there.

But it's like the Stalker Tanks from Micro-Art, or buying lots of Immortals or Wraithguard. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and just buy them.

I don't know why anyone would bite the bullet, the 'nid FAQ made spores suck hard. Why waste your money?

It does look good, I'll give you that. But personally I think the tentacles take up a little too much space, and I can't get over that price. I don't care how good it looks, I'm not paying over $40 for a spore...especially since they suck now, like I said.

This isn't really the thread for it, and not only that but I'm sure it's been debated to death already. All I'll say is that I'm not a fan of the 'nid FAQ.

Even if I could do an entire Deep Striking 'nid army, I'm not paying $40+ for each spore. And overseas shipping to boot.

Speaking of which, how the hell does an American order these anyway? Is there an "english" option on the website anywhere?

This will simply never be possible for resin miniatures without compromises in sculpt quality and/or material. Maybe one-piece resins done in that godawful hard and brittle stuff, but never anything anyone'd want to work with or see on the table.

Certainly far superior to the Big Pile of Vaginas that was posted here a while back.

It's very nice...simple and elegant.
Even though I appreciate that it's probably a fair price given the quantity they'll sell etc. I can't see paying that price.

If I were a Tyranid player I'd probably be looking at ways to use seed pods and such from dried flowers at craft stores.
