I finished it! After 2 years in the making and going from a small foot force to a mix of foot and mech then Battlewagon with Trukk support and finally all Battlewagon rush my Ork army is complete! I started this is 2008 when the current Ork codex come out, so in fact has taken me 2 years and 9 months! Hellfire! Will teach me to stop switching armies about! lol.

The original force had a Warboss with big choppa, Weirdboy, several units of Boyz on foot with rokkits - I think it was 20 Boyz along with 5 Meganobz. I then added two units of Trukk Boyz, one unit was 'Ard Boyz and also a unit of Nobz which were part metal and spares of Nobz models from the Boyz boxes.

I soon started to play more seriously and competitively, which the Warboss was changed with the one out of the AOBR set with a power klaw - much more better than a big choppa! I dropped the Meganobz as they got toasted by plasma one game and got blasted out their transport easily so a Big Mek with KFF went in. I got myself some Lootas for anti tank which worked a charm and then some Deffkopters for alpha strike nastyness after some proxy testing. At this time the list had a few Battlewagons, about 3 and a couple of Trukks.

I then thinned out the list dropping the Trukks and combining into one unit and getting another Battlewagon. I increased my Lootas and doubled the unit giving me plenty of anti tank fire power. I now had a all Battlewagon force.

After taking a 1k version of my Orks to a Dakka Dakka tournament (Silver Sorcerer) I found that Lootas in units of 5 worked ok, all you needed was to wreck a vehicle once and not several times over. I dropped those as I always wanted double Nobz units. Now I've got double Nobz units like I want, smaller Loota units and two Deffkopters which still work. I also added deffrollas as I had some points and liked them, so I kept them.

Here's the final army as it stands and hopefully not to be changed again, or for a long time!

Finally, here's the pictures:

Two converted Land Raiders which count as Battlewagons. The red one was the first one I got, this was before the Ork Battlewagon model was available. At the time I played Blood Angels so painted it red so it looked like it had been looted from the Angels. The blue Battlewagon is the latest model for the army, this I got from Justicar Alaric who I play often - for free! Some extra pieces and new track pieces and it was sorted.

Side shot of the army as the Orks prepare to charge the enemy.

The Boyz get ready to unload some dakka!

The Ork with the kombi skorcha is actually my Big Mek, second incarnation. The first Big Mek I made from spare Ork parts and added a power klaw and a back pack made up of bitz from a Imperial Guard vox caster and Space Marine teleporter homer. The problem with my Mek is he was too small compared to the Nobz he goes with, so when I brought another box of Ork Nobz I made one into my Big Mek. I added the existing back pack I made after some choppy choppy put on a cybork head and instead of sourcing a burna I just used a kombi skorcha, after all the burna replaces the choppa and the Mek still has his slugga.

The Warboss - Waaaaaagh!

This is a coverted Deffkopter using a Trukks wrecking ball which counts as a buzzsaw. Ok, it's not a saw but it's still going to do some damage and looks great as a replacement smashing into vehicles - plus it stands up nicely too.

Dakka, dakka, dakka, dakka...

'Ere we go ladz! Go git 'em - Waaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!!

Thanks for looking guys! Imperial Guard should be done soon!!

I love the realistic green skin you've given your orks. Its nice to see something thats not a flourescent green and doesnt require me to wear sunglasses. I like the metallic theme (or at least looks that way form the pics) you've got going on. Great work!

BTW, Is that a gaming board in the early produciton stages? Awesome!

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress

a bit dark on the paint isnt it?

its good to see an army painted but it looks really dark and slighlty "dull"

i dont mean to be offensive so i apologise.

i just think mebbe a bit lighter on the green with mated drybrush on them. mebbe 50/50 Orkhide shade and goblin green, followed by green wash and then dry brush on catachan green.

Regards

Congratulations! I look forward to the time I accomplish a similar feat! (Hopefully I won't be too distracted by Dark Eldar...)

Are the bases finished? They look a little plain...

Also - you don't use the Deffkopta flying stands (or equivalent)?

Awesome none-the-less!

I really do hate the bright green paint job, it's so unrealistic and looks naff. All my armies have dull paint jobs, you really wouldn't see a bright yellow Space Marine or a bright green Ork!

I don't like the bright green skin of Orks, it's unrealistic. A darker green like that one from Games Day UK is a lot more realistic. They've then be washed devlan mud which dulls them down more.

The bases are based with sand and then painted too.

When I traded the Kopters in they didn't come with bases :( never mind though.

Thanks!
