The box is a ring box. But sticking with the Terran theme, the ring is a custom Claddagh ring made from what appears to be a bolt shell casing.
Traditionally it's up to the wearer to choose what they represent with the ring (see article). As Amelia usually wears gauntlets, it seemed like a fun idea. Only she would know.
