Sources at GW have stated that Forge World's books such as the Imperial Armour series will soon be sold in GW retail shops in North America. This is imminent and Forge World books should start appearing in North American GW retail shops within the next few days. This should make these books feel a lot more accessible to a lot of customers on the west side of the pond.

Hmm...good news, although I gotta admit I'm kinda struggling to come up with a response that doesn't involve sarcasm about GW not selling their own merchandise through their retail stores.

Heretofore in the USA Forge World books were only regularly stocked in the Battle Bunkers and then only when those stores were stocking Forge World models too. When they stopped carrying Forge World models they also stopped stocking the books. Now apparently all the GW retail shops in North America will be stocking Forge World books.

Not sure about the independent shops, but if BL is distributing now it should theoretically be a lot easier for any shop that wants to carry these books to do so.

Apparently no one actually read the OP. He's talking about North American GW stores. This is good news for us New Worlders, we can finally get these books without paying a huge shipping fee and dealing with a long wait time.

It didn't say North American at first, that was edited later.

I bet we'll still be charged a 15% shipping charge even if they ship from the US

I wonder how the conversion will work on the price, or if they have found a publisher in the US to distribute them without paying $70ish for each Imperial Armor book...

Question though... Since the Forge World books and models are available at GW stores in the UK, does that mean that you guys allow the Forge World special rules in your tournaments as well?

Are you under the misguided impression that because they will be sold in stores here that they will be cheaper? I'm fearful that they will go up in price.

Hehe, no... Unfortunately I live in the real world and understand that they will be expensive. However, it would be nice to see FW actually do something like that since it would probably result in higher sales numbers.

What I would really like to see if FW open a North American production and distribution center so we wouldn't have to pay some insane shipping costs to get their models and books.

Even if you don't get shipping built into the price those of us in the chicago land area have to pay 10% sales tax leaving us only slightly better off. But not having to wait three-four weeks if very nice.

For us Canadians, i'd expect $90 for an IA book, such as IA: 9.

They tried that like 5 years back.

It failed miserably.

Hah! We all know why people don't let them be used. People don't like learning new things, or people having surprises they're not ready for.

Hmm, interesting. I've been trying to work myself up to get IA: 8, but having to save money for college and stuff makes ordering online a lot more difficult to justify, especially with shipping costs and whatnot. If it gets sold in US stores, then I'll be a happy camper, even if it means having to travel a decent distance to go get one (that being said, it's much better than swimming across the pond!)

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.

It's complicated."

0.997 at the moment so essentially 1:1.
It finally happened, too bad their insane shipping prices usually cancel it out

No, more like the rules aren't balanced whatsoever.

I guess this is good news for some people, but I don't really care. Not only will I not be using FW rules anytime soon, but the main thing keeping me from buying the books (besides the ridiculous wait time) is the price, which won't change.

I could care less about if they have them in GW's brick and mortar stores. I want them to be sold by GW US's website.

I don't understand something - for you Oz guys, why don't you just work out something with US peeps for your orders - like posting in the swap shop for people to remail you things? I know I'd be OK with it.
