Subject: The rules regarding 'sockpuppet' user accounts
After a rash of sock-puppetting on the site, I thought it timely to remind users that the setting up of duplicate user accounts with different names is against the forum rules and nearly always leads to indefinite suspension of both accounts.
Please do not set up sock-puppet accounts!
The maids may look cuddly but they will usually clean up both accounts very quickly.

And here I thought I'd be hearing about the misadventures of a three-year-old's favorite toy and the introduction thereof to the world of grimdark...
What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
When you say duplicate user accounds with different names, you mean like Grimstonefire2? Would it be against forum rules to start a second account with a completely different name and stop posting with the first?
Effectively closing the first account. I.e. would you be IP blocked from creating a second account?
Those maids look like they would do a very thorough job.

Keep in mind that "sock puppet" has come to refer to, pretty much, all "multi-accounting." That being the case, "nearly always" is an appropriate disclaimer.
You see, it's not unheard of for people to start a second account simply because they haven't visited the site, and forgot their password. I have experienced that on Bartertown more times than I can tell you. Rather than inquire via email, they want the instant gratification of getting on the site & posting, etc.
While individuals like that STILL deserve a good, firm "talking to," a ban is far too extreme a measure. it's the true "Sock Puppets" who deserve (and receive) the bans.
Before you guys go off insulting the Mods/Admin/Site, you really should consider all the facts of the situation.

Yes it was a joke, I was quoting this guy.
While we are on the subject it would be NICE if people would stop fething talking about anything "CENSORED BY THE ORDER OF THE ORDO XENOS" related.
You know like "CENSORED BY THE ORDER OF THE ORDO XENOS" You know.
Think of it as being like a compliment to our hosts yak and lego let alone the poor, underappreciated [MOD]s who have to read all the crap.
Everytime someone uses the word "CENSORED BY THE ORDER OF THE ORDO XENOS" it bumps us up in the "CENSORED BY THE ORDER OF THE ORDO XENOS" search-listings.
also, "CENSORED BY THE ORDER OF THE ORDO XENOS".
dammit.
There we go censored!
