Be prepared for a lot of misery then as the Black library fluff and tabletop game tend to have HUGE inconsistencies varying from author to author.

The book I read about the Grey Knights thing was in Graham McNeill's "The Killing Ground", the 4th installment of his Ultramarines series. It was set in the 41st Millennium and the info regarding that are on page 340. It says : "I am a warrior of the Grey Knights and I carry the Emperor's fire to the dark corners of the galaxy. Only a servant of the Ruinous Powers can defeat me. Had you bested me, it would have shown that you were an enemy of the Emperor and my warriors would have gunned you down." - Brother Leodegarius of the Grey Knights to Uriel Ventris, Captain of the Ultramarines 4th Company, after completing a Judicium Imperator or the "Emperor's Court"

No, not really, the Emperor's Court is a trial in which a subject is pitted against a Grey Knight in order to find out if he is free of Chaos taint. Ideally, you're supposed to lose, because this would mean that you are loyal to the Emperor.

nowhere it said you must die in the trials
it's probably a formality that you are supposed to "surrender" to the Grey Knight when your loyalty is tested, they are space marine of the inquisition

You guys are joking right? You arent seriously taking that sentence to mean grey knights can only be killed by chaos?
Are you supposed to even fight in that trial? wouldnt you just surrender right away since victory means death, and what space marine wants to fight to lose? "I surrender for the emperor!"

You did surrender for the emperor, going by the logic that inquisition is supposed to check if you are loyal or not
hence not allowing marines to go with this trials winning since it means that he Inquisition view, is WRONG

the (faulty) logic seems more like: no servant of the imperium is capable of beating a grey knight, therefore you must have been corrupted by chaos and used special chaos powers to win.
Or is it that you have been accused so must be guilty of something because we don't accuse the innocent therefore you are guilty.

Terminator armour doesn't always mean superior. For all its bonuses its severely bulky and seems most used for boarding actions on space hulks. Plus bloody expensive/rare parts to maintain suits of.

Which mean both of them is the work/method of Inquisition
this is the result of that many power in one persons hand
AFAIK the only thing that the Inquisition have ever backed down to is the Space Wolf, then again if somehow Brother Captain Stern/Inquisition said that Calgar Codex ruled doing is flawed infront of the whole chapter, well you can imagine the result of it . The ultramarine will probably invent powerfoot and paint their armor YELLOW
A chapter will take only so much from somewhere else

Once again, no it's not. You're not supposed to die, just very badly mauled, to the hands of a Grey Knight. To defeat one in unarmed combat would mean that you are tainted by Chaos. I failed to mention that the Emperor's Court is done unarmed and not necessarily meant to be lethal. The process of Inquisition is divided into three steps, the Emperor's Court is the final step. More often than not, taint is revealed almost always during the first step, via Psychic Inquisition. The second step is the trial of Holy Oils, wherein the subject has to grab a relic of an Imperial saint from under boiling holy oils to reveal physical taint. The Emperor's Court is a last resort, since someone tainted by Chaos would have either lost it from the psychic purge or fried his own arm off from the oils.

I take this to mean no Space Marine can kill a Grey Knight in one on one combat Monsieur Gazzy on the other hand probably neither knows or cares about this rule.

Yet in Soul Hunter a Terminator fights several marines by himself and in Storm of Iron an Iron Warrior Terminator kills a fair number of Imperial Fists.

Tabletop does not represent game fluff accurately because of the balanced rules.

I think Marneus is a fluffed up hooker. The guy just pisses me off every time I hear his name.
But in all honesty, he would probably win. Mainly because he is a chapter master, where as Stern, is a Captain, thats a huge difference.

Stern has about a .18% chance of actually killing Calgar.
If he doesn't, the chance of Calgar not killing Stern is basically negligible, due to Calgar being S8 and Stern's having no invulnerable save.

The question is not specific enough to truly be able to tell who would win. If in unarmed combat, like what is in the book, the combatants are not wearing armor and the GK would win. On the table top it would depend on cc or ranged. In ranged the GK has psybolts and Calgar has twin bolters. In cc Calgar has two powerfists so he would be striking last while the GK has a power weapon striking first. I think the GK would win but thats my opinion(possibly byast ).

Stern also goes first so calgar has to hope he passes his Invuln save or he is toast.
