What did the The Order of knights from Descent of Angels look like? From what I understand, they pretty much were the same as Astartes but with more primitive weapons. Is there anything specific out there about their appearance? Direct Quotes would be much appreciated

I would say imagine guys in MkI Thunder Armour mounted on steriod-hyped horses. Also, they are described as using chainblades and explosive pistols, so just Bolt Pistols and CCWs.

The thing is, these guys are hypothetically going to be Counts-As-Warriors of Chaos, so bolt pistols are a no-no. I don't imagine them in straight up Thunder Armor either, more like a hodgepodge cobbled together powered suit of medieval armor

The Knights look like Knights maybe?

Mounted on Horses and wielding primitive shooty and CC weapons ( swords and pistols ).
Their suits of armor seem to have some additional protection and comm systems.
Mk I PA or any similar suit could be what they wear. Can't remember a complete description of the suits in DoA, just a few fetures meantioned.

I just finished DoA and there were depictions that the armour was more complex than standard knight-plate, it was described as having vox networks, pressure seals and could aid the user's movements and boost their physical strength: sounds like a type of primitive, perhaps even pre-Thunder, type of Power Armour, but to say that they were very primitive that they were at a technological level comparable to stereotypical medieval knights would likely be incorrect.

Yeah, I always thought they were just GrimDark Brettonians. What's all this about them having power armor?

I think its the bits in DoA of the armor having additional protection, coollant systems, comms, supporting the movement,...

yeah, they looked pretty Space Mariney. I think the original inhabitants of Caliban had an STC for power armour.

In the first book, senior brothers of The Order wear white robes over their armor. The armor color is described as "burnished black".

In the second book, Fallen Angels, Luther wears a suit of power armor is in the "Calibanite style". It's described as being "close-fitting" compared to standard Astartes armor, and incorporates a combat shield as well as auto-reactive pauldrons.

I'd say Warriors of Chaos with Astartes pauldrons and backpacks would represent them pretty neatly.

So it sounds like they have a steampunky power armor. Like it was based on the form and body of knight armor with the technology of powered exoskeletons. I don't want to just build astartes on fantasy bases.

Also, Idk the WoC Characters well. Who would be a good" Counts as Lion El'Jonson"?

I thought so. Hmm...how could I balance the Knight look with Power Armor? I was considering making semi truescale astarte type characters with WoC legs and MkV cabled SM bodies and Filed down marauder heads, but Im afraid it will look like Space Marines on squares

You might try looking at some Inquisitor models from the DH and WH range. they wear PA and don't have the astartes look to them.

Honestly, after I read the book the first thing that popped into my mind was Cygnar from Warmachine;

@Age: Wow....those are pretty sick. However, I want this to be a totally GW legal army, so I'm gonna have to play around with the ranges. However, I've been tempted to get into Warmachine for a while, either Cygnar or Menoth(are menoth warmachine or hordes? I don't know the games that well)

@Grey Templar: It seems like the Inquisitors armor is mor like flak armor. The trick is going to be finding legs and arms to go with it.
