Stunning, simply stunning. I love the models from Studio McVey, he is my favourite painter by far. I'd love to buy the whole model range, but just feel I couldn't do the models justice.
One of my favourite GW models / Diramas at GW was done my Mike. I still go and drool over it in the minitures hall every time I'm at GW HQ. Its the original Space Hulk Dirama of Deathwing Terminators and Genestealers.

The pose is a bit awkward and off to me.
Individual parts are superbly sculpted, but the neck and head look like they maybe turned around too far not quite aligned right. Nor am I convinced by the weight and balance of the stance. Could be the camera playing tricks.
Not keen on the fully extended arm either. Would be better with a little fex imho
Would love to see her in the flesh. No sniggering at the back
Was thinking it had to be a larger model ...
33mm?
incredible painting
overall I would not say no if I had 12 quid to spare

Something smells fishy... wait... it's your hair!
Other than the crabs/fish and the sword (if I got the model I would perhaps put on a spell casting hand on instead) it is a lovely model.
Just a shame about the fish

I presume she's supposed to be some kind of water/ocean spirit/elemental-type creature?
The pose looks fine to me. Beautifully painted - she ain't gonna look half as good when painted by joe average.

Well, she is the perfect Bretonnian "Lady from the Lake", but too special for other uses sadly.

Beautiful figure, but...
People talk about codex creep, but what about model creep?
25mm -> 28mm -> 30mm. Now 33mm?

Wasn't 54mm the standard for painting and everything else was downscale for diaromas and wargames?

54mm, 75mm and upwards.
Part of the reason for scale creep is that sculptors are constantly trying to cram more detail into 25mm, failing, and nudging up the size to help.

Cool model, just not sure what to do with it
To me this model is saying
"Here sir knight, please take this sword from me because I have absolutely no idea how to HOLD a sword without cutting my own hand off"'
Its amusing, but feels like the sculptor had no idea that holding a sword by the blade = bad.. a bit absurd

Am assuming her to be a aquatic diety of some sort so holding the blade cuts no ice.
hope that works as intended
The name is ringing bells
off to google
and what do you know.
Her Name: The Lady of the Lake is usually referred to by various spellings of the names Nimue or Vivienne. Nimue is thought to be related to Mneme, the shortened form of Mnemosyne, one of the nine water-nymph Muses of Roman and Greek Mythology who gave weapons, not unlike Arthur's sword, to the heroic Perseus. Vivienne betrays the Lady's Celtic form, for "Vi-Vianna" probably derives from "Co-Vianna", a variant of the widespread Celtic water-goddess, Coventina. Remembering Latin pronunciation, this name probably relates to Merlin's original partner in early poetry, his wife Gwendoloena. Thus Gw-end(-ol)-oena = Cov-ent-ina.
from here so it must be true Automatically Appended Next Post: pps so would indeed be good for Bretts! and the height wouldn't be an issue imho

All nitpicking aside, it's a gorgeous model. Very well proportioned, great details (the crab/fish hiding behind her are a cute/creepy reminder that she's no mortal).
The grip on the sword blade might have been a mistake, or it could be another "not normal bidnizz" cue that is perhaps too subtle for the casual viewer. 'd guess the latter because we're talking about a sculptor that seems to have carefully planned every other detail of the fig- and probably the same sort of dork we are to notice practical details like that.
Nice paint on the demo model too. Good work, McVey!

It's a great model. Not as cool as the elf with the bow, but still nice.
But something about the stiffness of the arm pose and the look in the eyes makes me hear Whitesnake music in my head every time I look at it.

Exactly! I mean, if I went round saying I was an emperor because some moistened bink had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
Good/horrible to see that the McVeys have gotten back to releasing models I desperately want but can not afford anymore :(
