Blame! was pretty good. Great action, interesting story, wish they told more of it. Doesn't really answer a bunch of the stuff that comes up, or maybe just kind of infers things with a lot of show don't tell.

After burning through the entire manga in one go, the movie has a lot of show, don't tell, but to me feels like it tells more than the manga ever will.

On moon miranda.

Watched Blame! last night. Interesting flick, loved the atmosphere, visuals, and character design, but the "main" Kirry guy or whatever his name is felt...well, both pointless and stupid, like a webtoon parody of the generic "strong quiet" type.

Aside from that it was pretty cool though.

Killy, his name is Killy. Though that may make him more cheesy to some folks. He is supposed to be bland though, as he's nothing but a.. well means of exploring the setting and getting from one place to another. The manga has this even more so, with large parts of it being without any dialogue whatsoever coming from him, but rather from others, like Cibo or Sanakan.

As for what's his deal..

Spoiler:
The reason for him being a mute strong type is because he's a re-purposed security robot or the like, along the same lines as Sanakan, tasked with the singular mission of finding someone with the right genes, nothing else matters. He's been at this job for well over three thousand years now..!

What would've made the movie even better was if Dhomochevsky was in it:

My only complaint with the new season of blue exorcist was them not taking enough time at the start to let you know right where it was cutting in and changing the story from season one.

Huh, What do you mean?
Was there a Retcon?
Its been YEARS since I watched season 1

Season one did the FMA thing where when the anime caught up to the manga they just finished the show with their own story. Season two picks up half/third or something of the way then season one where the manga had ended and now branches off to get back on track with the manga story such that the later half/two thirds of season one didn't happen.

It cuts in right after the first time his class finds out he's the son of Satan. But the show itself makes no mention of all this retcon stuff so it was really confusing at first when I didn't realize that's what it was doing and everyone hated the main dude.

Yeah, it wasn't clear when the cut off was. Logically, it should have been after the trial where he kicked that Earth demon guy's ass, but before the movie I think? Or is the movie non-canon too?
Everything afterwards, especially the last episode of the first season, is original. Its not "canon"

Isn't the Psycho Pass movie canon? I hope its not, because there was some stupid bs.

End of Evangelion was also canon, as that was what was going on outside of Shinji's psyche.

Most of Psycho Pass was utter bollocks, but the movie is canon and can be seen as a "proper" ending to the series.

I got the vibe they were going for with him (much the same as Guts in Berserk), I just dont think Killy (the english dub pronounced it Kirry ) carried it through well in the flick for some reason. Loved the rest of it though. Ill have to check out the Manga at some point.

it's also the ending they really wanted to do, the trippy weirdness of the anime ending was resorted to because they ran out of money

That berserker armor reveal was incredible. The visuals, the soundtrack, Guts falling to the rage, it was awesome. Can't wait for next week.

After my daily visit to Hobbytown, I looked at some Gundams which I always wanna buy, but aways put it off because I feel like my painting wont do it justice.
So I decided to watch Iron Blooded Orphans while I Airbrush Gulliman

I actually find Gundam Models (the larger ones that is) really easy to paint, and it doesn't take much since the parts already come in their basic colors. The hardest part to worth with is the eyes, especially since so many mobile suits once their heads are assembled have areas that are really hard to reach with even a detail brush without getting paint elsewhere.

The RX-78 isn't the coolest Gundam but I thought it was a really good one to start with since it isn't a crazy model like the Sazabi or the EW Wing-Zero.

Iron Blooded Orphans has a handful of them in total that they refer to as "Gundams", but most don't look like the archtypal Gundam. The Gundams themselves are about as secondary to the show as they can possibly be and still have it be considered a "Gundam" show, and for the most part, only one Gundam that has any relevance. They could easily redo some visuals and lines and sell it as a non-Gundam giant robot show fairly easily.

That said, the show was super awesome, definitely one of my favorite anime shows from the last few years.

Not major spoilers, but read at risk;

Spoiler:
Other Gundams will appear in the series, so don't worry. Barbatos is just the first. Two more appear before the end of Season One, with a third, and fourth appearing in Two.

That said, Gundams are much less plot relevant in Iron Blooded Orphans than is traditional for the franchise. They're powerful suits and treated as such, but they're also not the highly sought after cutting edge technology of previous series'. They're actually antiquated technology, notable only for having two Ahab reactors rather than the usual one which gives them double the power output of a normal mobile suit but operating them without the Alaya-Vijnana system which the suits were designed for prevents using them at their peak as they exceed the ability of a normal human to keep up. This system in itself is almost more relevant to the series for pilot performance than the actual mobile suits are as everyone who has one tends to beat the crap out of anyone who doesn't without only a few exceptions regardless of what suit they happen to be operating.

I think IBO is my favorite Gundam since Wing. I liked it even more than I liked OO.

I know, its really good and im liking the characters(Hoping season 2 dub is gonna happen soon too)
Its just, I thought it would be like a gundam show, Lotsa mech fights, more and more powerups ever episode so sell more kits and so forth.

I don't think this post is spoilery but still:
Spoiler:

In this show the archetypical Gundams are more like ancient relics (I haven't seen many other gundam shows but have a basic knowledge of how this works) they are more powerful than regular Mobile Suit, which in turn are more powerful than Mobile Worker (the small "armed buggies"). And even piloting a better machine doesn't automatically mean you'll win as access to a Alaya-Vijnana System usually provides better reaction time and more natural feeling piloting. That's also why Mikazuki is also so good, he survived three Alaya-Vijnana System surgeries (these can be fatal), and the surgery itself is seen as kinda not honourable so it's only done on Human Debris (kinda slaves/child soldiers?).

There is a political component to the show and enough fights to balance things out. And the fights are more about close range melee fights and regular kinetic projectiles (guns/grenades, and a few missiles/railguns) instead of going all "pew pew lasers and stuff" or Macross Missile Massacre (warning: tv tropes link!). Overall the fights are rather visceral but also very satisfying. There are some upgrades, new suits, and additional interesting weapon loadouts in the second season.

Yeah, I am liking they are sticking with projectile weapons.
I always felt as if lasers had no UMph to them really.

In the world of IBO, laser tech is outdated, and even mook Mobile Suit armor is able to reflect energy weapons away with minimum damage (which becomes a very minor plot point later).

I also thought this was nice. Kept the series a little more down as it were than others which tend to get super beam crazy once beam weapons become common place and it gets silly. The fights were some of the best in any Gundam series, going more like a traditional beat um up franchise with Giant robots rather than like Gundam Seed where Kira "Jesus" Yamato just starts blasting everything insight with ludicrous amounts of dakka.

Sounds like Turn A, a little. I might actually have to check it out, from these descriptions. I usually avoid Gundam.

Just... please tell me they updated the sound effects. I don't think I could take the horrible 80's swoosh and zwoowm noises.

I'd honestly say it has more in common with Victory Gundam (particularly with regards to its ending and the series' overall kill counter). Though IBO never gets as "dark and edgy" as Victory did but it is one of the darker series' imo what with tackling themes like child soldiers.

If you want something like Turn A, you might like Recongusta in G, but I know that the art style of that one turned a lot of people off.

The series even lacks beam sabers. It's sound base is very mechanical in tone.
