While digging around in his attic, one of my friends found a Rogue Trader rulebook that belonged to his dad in an old box. Does anyone have any clue how much something like that would be worth?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I'm more amazed by the fact that he found the book in an attic and belonging to his dad.

Might be worth that if you have the hard-back version!
OP: Well done for not writing 'rouge trader', it's not often people can spell that word correctly!

I believe it's a typo more than a Spelling Error.

It's only worth what someone will pay for it. Check eBay to see what they've sold for. It's a great tool in determining the 'actual value' of an item.
To me it's value is $0.00, but to a collector it may be worth a good bit more.

Rouge is a type of makeup. think Mimes.
Rogue means scoundral, uncontrollable, what ever the dictionary says it means.

I think he was pointing out that typo and spelling error were the same thing, not asking the difference between rogue and rouge...

I believe Rouge Trader is Max Factor's trade monthly, might be something in there for Slaanesh/Dark Eldar fans but thats about it.
Another common typo/spelling error is "what pre-hersey army should I collect?" Erm.. I don't know.. maybe Cadburys? :<
