Well, one, you don't actually want history forgotten, because then everyone acts surprised when the next batch comes along (and they will). Volcanoes are a bear to drop sample collection into, and it's generally fairly small. Dump em into the ocean and you get little shrines all over the nearest beach. Or the beach that they believe is the nearest, same diff.

No, you just have to make their deaths as unheroic as possible, and raise a monument to that. Make them so synonymous with failure, betrayal of their fellow Muslims, and cowardice, that no one will ever follow them again. You can't just kill the man, you have to kill the idea.

Since they were trying so hard to destroy some of mankind's earliest monuments (and have sadly succeeded in many cases) it's fitting to erase them from history too.

The best part of that answer is that I'm not sure if "supply ISIS with TOW missiles" means shooting them at them, or literally supplying them with them, but it doesn't matter really because it's true either way!

TOW is a two-man portable anti-tank missile system so unless US has regular Army units on the ground in Syria, no one from US "delivers" TOW to ISIS as in "fires at them".

Syrian Army advances in ISIS-held Raqqa province.

US asks Russia not to target Al-Qaeda branch in Syria – Russian FM Lavrov

Washington has asked Moscow not to conduct airstrikes against al-Nusra Front, which is Al-Qaeda’s branch in Syria, for fear that members of the “moderate opposition” could also be hit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reported.

“They [the US] are telling us not to hit it [al-Nusra Front], because there are also ‘normal’ opposition groups [on those territories],” Lavrov said in an interview with local Russian media that was published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website.

The minister also stressed that “such opposition groups should leave terrorist positions,” adding that “we have long agreed on that.” Russia first set a deadline for the “moderate” opposition to leave territories occupied by al-Nusra Front extremists, but then agreed to give them more time to withdraw.

In the interview, Lavrov said that Russia believes that taking specific and more effective measures to fight the Islamic State (IS, former ISIS/ISIL) and al-Nusra Front terrorist groups should be the top priority for Russia and the US if the Syrian crisis is to be resolved.

270 civilians killed in terrorist shelling in Syria as Al-Nusra regroups - Russian MoD

Terrorist shelling of Syrian cities took the lives of over 270 civilians within the last 24 hours, Russia’s Defense Ministry said. In the meantime, the number of areas that have joined the ceasefire has reached 133.

The Al-Nusra Front, an Al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, has managed to recuperate, "[regroup] its forces" and "launched active warfare," reads a June 4 bulletin by the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides. According to the Defense Ministry, the offensive was made possible due to the fact that Al-Nusra fighters share territory with the so-called "moderate opposition" and therefore have not been targeted by airstrikes.

Exploiting the opportunity, Al-Nusra together with Ahrar al-Sham carried out attacks in the Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood of Aleppo, which is controlled by Kurdish militia, destroying police headquarters and killing more than 40 people and injuring over 100 in the heavy fighting.

At the same time, more than 1,000 members of unspecified armed groups, stationed in Aleppo’s Ansari neighborhood, supposedly under the control of the "moderate" rebels, attacked the Syrian army.

The terrorist groups also targeted residential areas in Latakia, Homs, Damascus and Daraa provinces.

Despite the increasing number of settlements that adhere to the ceasefire regime that came into force on February 27, brokered by Russia and the US, not all the groups claiming to belong to the opposition are observing the truce.

Another armed group, Jaysh al-Islam, which regularly participates in the UN-endorsed peace talks, reportedly shelled Aleppo with mortars and missiles, according to the bulletin.

Fallujah refugees say forced to join ISIS in exchange for food

Refugees who managed to flee the ISIS-occupied city of Fallujah after the Iraqi army advanced said they had had to live on stale dates to avoid starving to death unless they enlisted in the group which took control over food supplies.

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), which has been in control of the ancient city of Fallujah since May 2014, reportedly kept a close eye on food stockpiles and tried to coerce residents into joining the ranks in return for essential products, Reuters reported.

When people in Fallujah ran out of provisions, the members of the terror group went door-to-door promising food to the families of those who decide to join Islamic State.

Residents couldn't afford to buy food from Islamic State, since the Iraqi government stopped paying salaries as early as a year ago, when Fallujah as well as other cities in the region fell under Islamic State’s control. The move was supposed to prevent the group from appropriating the funds.

“Life was difficult, very hard, especially when we stopped receiving salaries and retirement pensions,” Azhar Nazar Hadi, 45, whose family was forced to move from the town of Sijir to Fallujah by the militants, told Reuters.

“There was shooting, mortars and clashes, we stayed hidden until the forces came in,” Hadi said.

“The last seven months we ran out of everything and had to survive on dates and water. Flour, rice and cooking oil were no longer available at an affordable price,” she added.

'Since I became a Christian I fear no one': Refugee explains mass conversions from Islam

More and more Muslim refugees have been converting to Christianity in Europe, according to reports from churches. One of the new converts told RT: “I have been spat on, told that I've betrayed Islam, but through what I've learned I can forgive them.”

In Austria there have been at least 300 applications for adult christenings in the first three months of 2016 alone, with up to 70 percent of those said to be refugees, the Guardian reported.

At Berlin's Trinity church the congregation has recently grown from 150 to almost 700, the newspaper said.

In Hamburg more than 80 Muslim refugees from Iran and Afghanistan converted to Christianity and were baptized last week alone, German magazine Stern reported.

“I’ve been spat on, told that I've betrayed Islam. But through what I've learned, I can forgive them,” one man who was recently baptized a Christian told RT in Hamburg.

“Since I became a Christian I fear no one,” a young woman added.

Among the most popular reasons behind the conversion is faith in a new religion, triggered by “lack of freedom” in Islam, and gratitude to Christians offering help to refugees fleeing war-torn countries.

"I've been looking all my life for peace and happiness, but in Islam, I have not found it," Shima, an Iranian refugee, told Stern magazine. "To be a Christian means happiness to me," she added.

"In Islam, we always lived in fear. Fear God, fear of sin, fear of punishment. However, Christ is a God of love," another Iranian refugee, Solmaz, told the German daily.

US terror report on Iran a stupendous denial of Washington-Saudi terror reality

Since 1984, the US has been labeling Iran a leading state sponsor of terrorism, a charge that was reiterated last week. However, global events explode Washington’s credibility and denial of reality.

Russia’s Defense Ministry, for example, this week reported that some 270 civilians were killed within 24 hours from shelling of Syria’s second city, Aleppo, by Al-Qaeda-affiliated terror groups.

Moscow said the surge in violence by these groups followed from the curbing of Russian air strikes at the request of Washington – purportedly to spare “moderate rebels” located in the same areas as Al-Qaeda terror brigades.

The latter include Jabhat al-Nusra and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), both of which are internationally proscribed by the United Nations Security Council.

As noted by former British ambassador to Syria, Peter Ford, the risible pretext of protecting “moderates” is a cynical cover for the unavoidable fact that the US is, in effect, siding with Al-Qaeda terrorism in Syria for the overthrow of the Assad government.

It has been reliably documented that the anti-government militia in Syria affiliated with Al-Qaeda, including Jaysh al-Islam and Ahrar al-Sham, are supported materially and politically by the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and NATO-member Turkey – all close allies of Washington.

Also in the news, just as the latest US State Department report came out pillorying Iran over terrorism, the United Nations condemned the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen for inflicting 60 percent of child deaths over the past year in the war-torn country.

The Saudi-led coalition includes the US and Britain which supplies warplanes and logistics for air raids purportedly aimed at defeating Houthi rebels who ousted the US-Saudi-backed regime in early 2015. The latest UN report also condemned the Saudi coalition for destroying hospitals and schools across Yemen, which had already been designated as the Arab region’s poorest country even before the US-Saudi military intervention began in March 2015.

Disgracefully, within days of the report being published UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon buckled under political pressure and removed Saudi Arabia and its coalition partners from a global blacklist of rights violations against children.

The cynical part of me (which really is my only part ) says that they are just doing it because it makes getting a residence permit easier and you are virtually guaranteed you won't get sent back to Iraq/Afghanistan/Iran if you are christian (as christians in those countries are persecuted and so sending them back would be illegal).

I hate to point this out, but RT is about as objective as Fox News.

Point of fact, if you want real fun, read their articles:

Take a shot of vodka every time RT claims something wrong with the world is the fault of the US or a more vaguely defined 'west' while the other guy has to read Fox and take a shot of bourbon every time that they blame Muslims or Russia.

Better yet, buy yourself a bottle of good whisky and try to have a drink when any Western propaganda news source says something good about Russia. This bottle will last you at least a hundred years.

But I think a mod should be called in this thread again since somebody obviously is trying to derail it, just like in the thread about ukranian Nazis and their US puppeteers, with idiotic comments about "trustworthiness of sources". I think the mod's suggestion was "post something of yours or shut the freak up". If only I could see the offender's posting...
