Deadly Dark Eldar Warrior
|
Hello Dakka Dakka, I was wondering if you could help me stat Necrons and their weaponry for Dark heresy and deathwatch. Mainly just looking for the warriors and their gauss flayers. They are not supposed to be just mooks, in Dark Heresy I want to have a single necron warrior be a possible party killer. In Deathwatch they would be more like an elite enemy. How is this for the stats for necron warriors:
WS: 40 BS: 45 S: 45 T: 55 Ag: 20 or 15 Int:30 maybe less WP: 40 Fel: 5 Wounds: 12 to 15
skills: can't really think of any.
traits: Dark sight, Machine (5), Regenerate (5), from beyond (due to their mechanical nature), The Stuff of Nightmares.
Talents: Can't really think of any.
Gauss flayer:
Class: basic Range: can come up with it later RoF: s/2/- (was also considering just single shot for balence purposes) Dam 2D10 (maybe more, maybe less?) Pen: 6 clip: n/a
Rld: n/a Special: tearing.
What do you all think?
EDIT: Just found a homebrew online, no help needed.

Hopefully you found something good.
Or that you found this: http://darkheresy.wikia.com/wiki/Necrons
If so, hurray! If not, enjoy!

The newest Deathwatch book, The Emperor Protects, has rules for Wraiths and Tomb Spyders. Once it arrives I’ll post them here. It should give a good baseline from which to extrapolate other stats.

With that statline they'll make a worthy opponent for any experienced group of acolytes.

In H.B.M.C.'s stead... here are the stat lines for the two necrons we have so far from The Emperor protects. For some reason they aren't called Tomb Spyder or Wraith in the book, but they do have the right pictures next to them. The Gauss gun is also not called a Gauss gun... It's almost as if they didn't have the rights to use the correct names... Anyway.
Tomb Spyder : ws(35) bs(35) s(55) t(58) ag(26) int(20) Per(35) wp(45) fel(-)
skills : awareness / climb / dodge / Tech use
Talents : combat master / swift attack / Talented (tech use)
Traits : auto-stabilised / Dark sight / fear(2) / hoverer(4) / improved natural weaponry / multiple limbs / natural armour / natural weapons / size (enourmous) strange physiology / the stuff of nightmares / unnatural strength (3) / unnatural toughness (3)
Gauss gun : 45m s/2/5; 3d10+8 E; pen12; recharge; tearing; unlimited clip
Wraith : ws(55) bs(48) s(50) t(55) ag(45) int(30) Per(45) wp(45) fel(-)
sills : awareness / concealment / climb / dodge / silent move
talents : crushing blow / lightning attack / preternatural speed / step aside / swift attack
traits : dark sight / fear(3) / hoverer(9) / improved natural weapons / natural armour / natural weapons / phase / regeneration (6) / size (hulking) / stuff of nightmares / unnatural agility (2) / unnatural strength (3) / unnatural toughness (2)
So. Taking those as examples I think the majority of your stats seem fine, though Fel seems to be something that Necrons don't have.
Skills wise Awareness and Dodge seem to be common to both; I'd assume something like scanners would account for both of those.
Talents : Talented (Tech Use) would probably aid in the use of Gauss weaponry; possibly swift attack
Traits : Dark sight; fear(3); natural armour; regeneration(5); stuff of nightmares; unnatural agility(2); unnatural strength (2); unnatural toughness (2)

Not sure why they'd sue weird names, but a common DM suggestion is that using a name for a monster makes it much less scary.
Basically, the difference between "You're being attacked by a tomb spider" and "You're being atatcked by an eight-legged mechanical monstrosity with razor-sharp claws on one hand and a strange alien weapon that glows with an unholy light on the other."
Of course, no reason the GM shouldn't know what is being talked about, and Deathwatch would presumably know more about such things than most.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

The Tomb Spyder is called Guardian of the Tomb and the Wraith is called Spectral Harbinger. I can only assume that they have been given these names in order to make the Deathwatch team think they are facing something new that no-one really knows anything about.

That's true. Deathwatch is set before the Imperium first encountered the Necrons (it's set before Hive Fleet Kraken!), which is why they're not given the correct names.

I can't wait to unleash one on my players. Not in Deathwatch mind you - Dark Heresy, where they're all near the top of their trees. Should be a fair fight... right?

Hehe. Depends on how good/prepared your acolytes are I guess. Best of luck to them. They'll need it!

One of them is an excellent shot with a Long-Las (our Guardsman). Another is a good shot with his Grenade Launcher, and good in HTH (our Arbite). Another is scary in HTH and loves his flamers (our Priest). And the last one is a Psyker with a Best Quality Force Weapon and a LOT of powers.
Plus they have a Cyber-Mastiff and a Combat Servo-Skull with a Compact Meltagun attached to it.
I reckon they could do it.

If they can get the melta to hit they stand an excellent chance. Sounds like it will be a fun encounter.

Wow, just wanted to chime in after playing some deathwatch. Here I was thinking space marines were all awesome and stuff (I mean, yea they kill stuff dead) but one tyranid warrior ripped my assault marine a new one.
At first, I was like "Space marines can handle one silly tomb spider" but then I was like " NOOOOOOOO stay away!"

Speaking of horrible bad guys from The Emperor Protects that will shred players, I put my players (3 Lvl 8 & 1 Lvl 9 DH Characters, plus a Cyber-Mastiff, a GunSkull w/Meltagun and 2 Lvl 5 NPCs) up against the Broodlord from The Emperor Protects. They won, but only because they set the thing on fire and the NPC's I had with them had some very decent guns (and I kept failing my WP Tests to act whilst on fire). And the only reason their Psyker is alive is because I may have been a little kind with some of my rolling. I've never seen the group so scared of one single model - and this is after they've fought off multiple Genestealers at once! At least I know what their limits are... so when they face the Tomb Spyder in Act IV they'll be ready for it.
