The last few week or so i've been looking to purchase some random things from the swap shop and i think it would be good if it was split into 2 forums , one for sales that are from the u.s.a and one for sale that are from the uk i believe that this would increase the numbers of people using the swap shop as i've before been about to inquire about a trade and then seen that its coming from the u.s which has put me off from inquiring due to cost

thanks

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

You can search the swap shop for "UK" and "US", though it can be hit and miss. Plus you don't get to see the threads where there is no designation as to where the trade is.

So where do the trades from everyone in the rest of the world go?

The Swap Shop format already includes a note in the subject line telling everyone where it's being posted from. Splitting the forum would be counter-productive.

or perhaps three insaniak ,its just a suggestion for localization , i know that about the note but it would save time imo.

You know, this issue pops up periodically, and I have cycles of being gung-ho about adding Country Tags to thread titles, but honestly, I get burnt out from changing every other title.

Still, I'm due for another 'up' cycle of adding country tags.

Just a suggestion, and I guess it would add a bit of work and effort on Lego's part, but what about coding in thread title format - ie so the new thread code in the swap shop forum forces the user to format their thread title in a certain way and won't allow the thread to be created unless done so. That way you could enforce the format and not have to involve the man hours policing it.

I suspect this would be quite an effort to set up though.

filbert that would be pretty cool , as sometimes the only way you tell what country is from the symbol next to the thread £ or $ and that is not hugely obvious

That would be rather tricky and take development time to do, so sadly it isn't going to happen...there are just better things for Lego to spend his time doing.

However, we could implement a simple pop-up that occurs everytime a thread is created in that forum reminding people that their title must be formatted a certain way or their thread may be deleted. That shouldn't be too hard to implement and might do a bit of good...hmmm...

I vote for the localization of the swap shop. This would also help reduce the amount of new posts in each specific area, allowing the "post-bump" rule to be reduced from four days to something more reasonable, like two days. It is also one of the simplest solutions. Just create the different forum sections, and put at least a single mod in charge of each localization. I can imagine at least 3 forum sections: US-based, UK-based, and Other, but you can add as many sections as you desire.

Sorry, but I'm still just fuming because you can't even update your post in swap shop without it getting closed for "bumping" within 4 days...

You would appear to have misinterpreted the swap shop rules.

You're allowed to update your post as often as you want. That doesn't require bumping the thread, which is what gets it locked... The rules simply require you to edit your original post with the new information, rather than making a new post.
