Decided to get involved in Warhammer Fantasy after years of 40k. Warriors of Chaos have some sweet models (and lots in plastic) so I decided to try them out. My area the games are 2000 or 2500 points. I put together a list that comes out to 2138, so I need help reducing it to 2000 and increasing to 2500 points please. I would like two units of Warriors and I already put together three trolls, but I am open to pretty much anything else. Oh, no foot Marauders, I don't want to have to put together a zillion of them. Anyway, here is my newb self put together:

Sorceror Lord + Lvl 4 + MoT + Talisman of Preservation + Obsidian Trinket + 3rd Eye of Tzeentch = 375

Exalted Hero + BS + + MoT + Armour of Morrsleib + Shield + Necrotic Phylactery = 196

Core - 19 Warriors + Shields + MoT + Command = 354

Core - 19 Warriors + Shields + MoT + Halberds + Command = 373

Core - 5 Warhounds

Core - 5 Warhounds

Special - 6 Trolls

Special - 5 Chaos Knights + MoT + Banner of Rage + Command = 305

Rare - Hellcannon

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Forgot MoT on BSB

Looks solid, though why no MoT on the BSB? You are one mark away from a theme Tizz warhost, and it seems a shame to miss out
Taking it to 2500 another hell cannon would get you close, with maybe a Level 2 Sorc to put you at 2500. For extra Tourney fun, taking Throgg and some more trolls would make that unit horrific, though he is considered a little OP among some players.

As to 2000, I might pull 1 warrior from each unit, and one troll, and maybe a unit of warhounds. Maybe drop the champ from the knights, as he is pretty expensive and just forces you to give enemy characters a little protection in a challenge with him.

Thanks, the lack of MoT was definitely an oops, I've edited the original list.

Quick question on the topic of trolls: How effective are they when outside the range of the General's leadership? I am assuming here that they can use it for Stupidty tests?

Trolls are nearly worthless outside of a leadership bubble. You are unlikely to pass the stupidity test, you'll blunder forward D6", and should you think you hit an enemy, you'll stop an inch short instead.

Which is fine, just you trolls as your center; near the general and/or BSB.

Well, it was tough and I made cuts you aren't going to like too much, but here's 2k:

L: Sorcerer Lord - MoT, talisman of preservation, third eye = 325

H: Exalted Hero - MoT, BSB, talisman of endurance, shield = 180

C: 18 Warriors - MoT, full command, halberds, shields = 356
C: 19 Warriors - MoT, full command, shields = 354
C: 5 Warhounds = 30
C: 5 Warhounds = 30

S: 6 Trolls = 270
S: 5 Knights - MoT, standard, musician = 250

R: Hellcannon = 205
--------
2000

Sorcerer Lord is a level 3, but casts @ +4 with MoT anyway, and with the third eye has access to 3-7 spells every round. 3 rolls clearly doesn't guarantee gateway, but if you run the numbers on doubles and such I think it's still pretty decent. And those games where you don't roll gateway you get to use your brain and mess with other spells

BSB is a fairly boring build, but gets right to the point: 3/4+ save ftw. He is also choppy by nature.

Halberd warriors you're going to want to run 6-wide in most all cases, so 18 just gets them there faster. The shield dudes are still 19, to accept at least the level 3 and turtle up.

Puppies are still there, though I was itching to axe one unit to get an easy 30 points. Two units is nice tactically though and will help you out.

Trolls I kept at full strength for being scary bastards.

Knights sadly lost their frenzy, and a lot of their nastiness. I'd say it might be worth dropping 5 warhounds and swapping the BSB's talisman of endurance out for the collar of khorne to buy them back the angry banner, but it depends I guess on how you want to use them. Or how many points you want to give away when they die

Heckcannon is still in.

So that's what I got, hope it helps. Makes for a decently brutal list, with IMO an interesting magic phase between only 3 levels and third eye making you choose your options in many cases.

If your warriors have the mark of the bird man, skip the halberds so you can get a 5+ parry save from your shield and hand weapon guys. Mark of khorne works well with halberds.
