Its not a space marine so you prob won't get many replies.

Im not a fan of the mini (Im picky) but would use it to practice my blending\washing etc. Lots of large open bits!!

Very clean. Excellent job on the white. The face is creepy in a way I can't explain, it's the expression. You creeped me out with a miniature. Hahhaa.

Admittedly I'm not a fan of 54mm anything (let alone historic) but I have an eye for good work and this is definitely good work.

Loving the eldar! Not sure about the source lightig on the farseer - it looks a little out of place or not highlighted enough, I'm not sure. The Napoleonic is really glossy looking... is it the lighting or was it treated with gloss varnish? Excellent freehand and very clean lines, by the way.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Some great stuff you have here. The Napoleonic Officer - nice to see some 54mm stuff for a change, by the way - is certainly painted pretty well, but I'm not really a fan. The gloss and the slightly odd pose just don't sit well with me.

What I really like is your Eldar. You do the bright colours really well. The greens and purples on Maugan Ra look great, although the whites seem rather flat in comparison. I think that might just be the lighting.

The farseer looks amazing. I love the red robe, as well as the freehand on the back. I have to agree that the source lighting looks a little out of place for some reason though. I reckon the model would have looked just as good without it.

Thanks all for the comments.

For those of you wondering about the "odd pose" of the Napoleonic Officer, it's a problem with the kit. This is an OLD Historex plastic kit which really doesn't hold up well with the newer, nicer 54mm ranges by Andrea and Pegaso.

The actual pose had the model standing in a semi-relaxed position but the right leg on mine was so badly molded that I had to make it appear as if he's walking/stepping down a bit. I do agree though, the pose is odd for the model itself.

Here's a vignette I did as a gift from The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly.

This is a kit available from Andrea Miniatures. The actual base was much too small and didn't include the open grave, so I re-mounted the entire thing and made the base from scratch. Other than the base, the only other non-kit item that I switched out was the noose. The cast metal noose wasn't very crisp, had a few injection pin marks that obscured the detail, and wasn't long enough. I made a new longer noose from 24 gauge wire. Other than that, this was an excellent kit and I did a review of it for my blog.

The colors here were difficult to get precisely right as the movie stills and multiple versions of the film itself all have slight variations in color. The only easy colors were Blondie's blue chambray shirt, his dark-washed jeans, and the leather gunbelts.

Thanks for all the feedback/suggestions. It all helps.

Here's a rundown of my ork army - Da Krimson Klawz - which I completed earlier this year and never got around to posting pics of until now. (click on an image to zoom and vote on my Dakka gallery). Enjoy!

Just a quick post. Haven't had much time to paint my Reaper minis (though I'm currently workign on the Urban Legend Sophie), this has been the only one I've been able to finish. This is my first experiment with OSL lighting from the interior of his cloak.

Enjoy!

First of all I love anything related to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, so major props on that diorama.

The like the lighting effect on the reaper, but wonder if some slight shading on the white cloak might make it pop more.

Had this Hasslefree mini in my bitz box for months now and just now got around to assembling and painting him. This is probably the nicest 28mm historical mini I've ever done, great detail.

He's based on a wooden shape, floored with scale lumber to represent a ship's decking. I painted him as an American Privateer during the Revolutionary War (and, yeah, he stole a Red Coat!).

Nice job on the Matriarch. The scales look really good. My one critique would be that her spear looks kinda flat, especially the staff part of it.

Nice colour scheme on the lamia.
And while the mask does look good, I think I have to agree with Moltar. The spear really is kind of flat :-(
Perhaps some simple shading would do. Same thing with the belly scales - or rather the "pelvis scales" and what lies below. An easy way to create more depth would be to use some washes...

Do you plan to use them for gaming or rather for display?

Thanks all, I also think her staff is rather boring but I have no idea what to do with it - any suggestions?

@Sister: For now, the Lamia is really a display mini.

Well, here's a one-off project I just finished. I've been a huge fan of the Mouse Guard comics and, when I saw Reaper had produced its 'Mouslings', I just had to have some.

They were a joy to paint, lots of character and small enough that it didn't take very long. I mounted them on the taller Rackham bases so they'd stand out more.

Enjoy!
