I'm looking at starting an Imperial Guard infantry using (converted) Cadian models, but I'm having trouble with a color scheme. So Dakkaites, let's see some pictures of your painted Imperial Guard Shock Troops!

I do white clothing with brown armor. The helmets are shaved off and hair GSed on, and the lasguns are slightly chopped down:

Unconventional, and were I to make a new guard army all over again, I doubt I'd do it again, but it sure is a distinct army.

Your army is very popular on here, Ailaros. I cannot contribute yet, but I will when I finish..

I agree that your army is very popular here. Every thread I've seen it in has had high praise for it, and I can say I have used it as an example for my friends (specifically the Ogryns you sculpted). You are very good at what you do.

That said, I'm hesitant to post my IG immediately after yours. I'm not usually shy about slapping pics of my "6 out of 10 on a good day" models up on any Dakka thread, but following something like that is almost intimidating. The only way I can describe it would be similar to having Yngwie or Eddie hand me a guitar and say "go ahead man, play something". Uhm... yeah. Maybe later.

I'll be back.

Aye, Ailaros is one of those legendary GS gods. I like his army too. I'm more of a mech vet guy, but there's always something admirable about having a ton of well painted troops out on the table and not hiding inside transports. Regardless here's some of my own work. Sometimes I think I've got too many paint projects going on at one time tho...

I stand in awe, sir.

Some of the best models I've seen are done by people unafraid to use garish colors boldly. The above obviously could use a little more time, but even without, they're nearly as cool as these guys I just faced against (they were penal legionnaires).

Mine are in a pretty bog-standard scheme:

Here's 2 different cadians I painted.
Cadian 1, I painted 275 of them for a friend of mine.

Cadian 2, his friend saw the 275 and said "I want that but darker on these 80"
