Here is a tank I did to match a Praetorian force. The concept for this tank is that it is much older than the rest of the force, and the color on the paint is faded. The Praetirians keep their machines well maintained, so it doesn't have a lot of rust on it, just a very faded red.

OOOh, nice, a Destroyer. (Am I right?) Nicely done. How did you do the fading? Just blending?

Hey odinsgrandson, may I ask how you approached the fading? Is it a different color entirely, did you take your original shade & blend it to a fade or did you do something else? I want to do something similar with my iron clad dread but am not sure how to approach the problem.
Thanks! Nice job BTW.

Nice paintjob. And +1 for the comments above, a 'how to' would be very nice

Excellent job. Reminds me of some of the old weathered shipping containers we had in Iraq. The paint faded exactly as you have it.

Alright, how to make a color look faded.
I normally paint my reds starting with a very dark color then layering up, and that's how I approached this machine.
The red started out with the same base color, but when I started highlighting, I mixed in greys with the bright reds I used on the other vehicles. I added in more grey as I highlighted more (so the parts that are higher on the vehicle are more affected).
I had a darker gray and an almost white gray that I used on this tank. The result is a little pink, and a very de-saturated red.
I think I'll try this technique out on some Space Hulk minis.

Thanks odinsgrandson. Could we possibly get a side-by-side shot of your faded tank next to one that is not faded? It would be most enlightening to see the two together.

Sure. You have the one from the top of this thread already. Here's a non-faded Leman Russ Battle tank:

That non faded Leman Russ looks amazing!
The faded one is done well...it just lacks...something I can't put my finger on quite yet.
Still, very well done on both, the non-faded just looks amazing-er to me

Awesome looking! Considering it is so faded, I might have gone for a few pits and more superficial "paint damage", but other than that is is badass@
