Eternal Plague

I went into a Nathan's Restaurant in Nassau County (about two counties shy of where Coney Island Nathan's is), and on the mural of their wall was this image:

You'll get a better picture the next time you go to a Nathan's Restaurant, but basically, I am talking about the employee 7th from the left next to the smiling woman and one of the men holding the male child.

Despite the picture being taken, that employee looks like one of those whose had his soul sucked away by the fortunes of his inevitable fate: forever working in the fast food industry.

I must find out who is this sad soul! His misery interests me!

He has the thousand yard stare so typical of the McDonalds employee; one who can see their future stretch like a highway in front of them and its not a pretty sight.

Outwardly he's silent, but inwardly his thoughts are an endless stream of curses and rage against his employer, his co-workers, his customers, and any other human being in sight. Such is the manner of the fast food employee.

That's right. I worked at Wendys for almost four years, and I showed up for work with a hangover or a little buzz nearly every shift, and not once did it impair my ability to do the job, so menial and mind-numbingly simplistic is was. That's why now, I am self-employed and when I go through the drive-thru at Burger King or Sonic, I am not very demanding. As long as what I receive vaguely resembles what I ordered, I'm okay with it. (Both of these places send me buy one get one free coupons once a year, and on my budget they are like gold.) (And I'm boycotting Wendys until they stop using that nasty applewood smoked bacon.)

On a side note, I wish, I wish, I wish they would bring Wendy's to the UK. I had the pleasure of sampling the fare when I lived in New Zealand and it was by far my favourite of all the major fast food brands, hands down.

No way mate, I've spent a couple of years in the states and In N Out burger kicks the gak outta Wendys.

I think its only west coast, but there's one in Vegas mare, and we all go there right?

Get a double double with cheese.. its an emotional experience.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

It used to be in the UK. I went there once but it wasn't anything special. They closed down years ago.

They closed down in Japan last year or the start of 2010.

Burger King doesn't look like it is doing very well either.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Well, I'm off to go and live out Number 7's hellish existence for the next 8 hours. Who goes to a McDonalds at this time of year anyway?!

Number 3 and 5 look a bit young to be working in fast food, I guess they used to trap them early.

In N Out - did you get the real menu yet or are you still reading from their two item menu?

Frazz, two Items is enough when its THAT good.

And you know, you can just add MOAR meat and cheese right?

I got a four by four, it was fricking sweeeet.

Im starving myself for 24 hours and doing an 8 by 8 next trip.

Son, they have a whole menu thats not on the menu. Thats the main part of the cult of In&Out.
Greasiest burgers I've ever eaten. I'm more partial to Carls Jrs. myself.

Want to tick off a Canadian? Remind them that Tim Horton's is owned by Wendys...

In your base, ignoring your logic.

5 guys burger and fries.

1 hamburger, 20+ toppings.

Obviously shopped. The banner says hamburgers were 5 cents, but we all know only GW ever raises prices.

Yeah, but I can get a double stack meal at Wendy's for $3.81, at Five Guys it's like $8.50...

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
