Given the recent "How to you say: Tzeench" I though we might visit the WORST named god of chaos...

Khorne = Corn?

or I found this...

The phonetic "kh" (Х) is pronounced like the "ch" in Scottish "loch" or German "Bach"; for example, Kherson (Херсон) is pronounced "her-SON."

So It also could ne "Horn" does anyone know this to be true or am I just hoping that his children don't call him "Pop" (get it?)

99% of folk will pronounce it "Corn."

I did hear one guy pronounce it "Kah-horn," but it was mainly to be facetious.

I say "Corn." It's hard to ascribe a particular set of phonetic pronunciation rules to something with no particular cultural background. If it's a Space Wolves character, I can reasonable assume that any D or TH is a selectively transliterated ETH and can therefore pronounce it accordingly (which wouldn't be terribly far from the English phonetic pronunciation). Without establishing Khorne as Scottish, German, or Russian (assuming the Cyrillic example was, in fact, Russian), there's nothing to suggest a particular reading of the name.

Now try and imagine the 40K universe in a non-phonetic language. The Wales system would get the instant Exterminatus, just to avoid chaos erupting in the Imperial scriptorums.

I hate trying to pronounce anything in the Chaos section. Like Slaanesh -- am I supposed to annunciate both a's so it comes out sounding like Sla-a-nesh, or just go with slan-esh? And if it is slan-esh, why is the double 'a' neccessary --for confusion? Is that the chaos tactic, to simply make their names such a rigorous test on the tongue that their foes give up trying to say their names?

Ive always assumed though that is was "Canned Corn for the Del Monte god!" --- chaos is a joke

I used to call Slaanesh - Sla-neish for some reason, although I did eventually start calling it Slan-esh a while back.
