If you read through Dakka these days, odds are pretty good you can find a flamewar regarding one army or another. In my relatively short time on Dakka, I've seen rants about Tau, Space Wolves, Blood Angels, one about most of the xeno codices in aggregate (evidently someone doesn't like aliens), and a few others I'm forgetting to mention. While this isn't quite every army, I've decided to try and compile the reasons WHY each army is hated in it's own unique way. Then we can realize that EVERY army has issues that need be addressed and just move on. Seriously. And btw: This thread is probably going to be a little controversial. Just try to keep it as polite as possible to prevent modquistion. Thank you in advance. So, to begin:

Space Wolves: Grey Hunters and longfangs from a gaming perspective. Also not a fan of the TWC fluff. And they ride wolves? REALLY!?! Plus, on a personal note, Loganwing stole the thunder from my Deathwing, so a personal grudge there.

Blood Angels: And then I roll my blood dice to blood hit with my blood claw. I roll a blood 4 and then roll my blood dice again. I roll a blood 5 so I blood wound. Now you take your blood armor save and fail. Bloodbloodbloodblood!!!! Plus deep-striking Land Raiders; not too useful in-game, but still stupid. And why does a human (can't remember his name at the moment) have a Daemon Prince stat line?

Tau: They look a bit like anime robots. I hate anime but like the Tau, so don't apply it to me . I guess I have to defend them since they're my largest army, but I see the point. Plus their codex needs an update, and I hate them for that too. And they cursed my dice, and I hate them for that too.

Dark Angels: I only hate them because their codex sucks. They don't do anything that someone else doesn't do better.

This about rounds out what I have to say. But I know that Dakka has some ironically friendly hate to spill on armies.

Black Widow Assault Cadre 2000 Points (Under Renovation- Playable) Win-4 Lose-5 Draw-1
Storm Angels 1st Company 2500 Points (DA Codex) (Under Renovation - Playable) Win-3 Lose-4 Draw-3
Corsairs of Fate 1750 Points (Under Construction - Playable) Win-2 Lose-3 Draw-1
Protectorate of Menoth 11 Points (Project Delayed Indefinitely) Win-1 Lose-3 Draw-0
Imperial Guard Regiment (Unnamed) 1000 Points (Project Delayed Indefinitely)
Cygnar 25 Points (Planned) Win-0 Lose-0 Draw-0

Last Game(s): The Spearhead Annihilation Battle between my Storm Angels First Company (Dark Angels) and Skystompa's Waagghh! (Blood Angels) resulted in a MAJOR VICTORY!

Tyranids went from Swarm to MC spam and the Fex got nerfed.

Chaos lost it's flavour and has become Codex: Spiky Marines

IG love their metal Boxes

Necrons are prehistoric

DA and Templars pay for overpriced units that have worse stats than their Vanilla SM counterpart and largely have their thunder stolen by SWs.

Just to name a few...

Anything your codex can do, IG can do better. IG can do anything better than you.

My biggest complaint. After that, how can freakin' BA deep strike and assault, and Chaos Daemons can't? I'm calling BS on that.

Nah mate, only vanguard veterans can DS and assault. BA can just land with more precision.

Anyway hate...

Vangaurd in SM armies can as well, an elite unit type thing. Though honestly, I do believe a few units from the Chaos Codex should have had that vital boon. Would really have encouraged risky deep striking, some with big payoffs and others ending in catastrophy.

And RedArmy is correct. IG can pretty much be built to do anything and everything better than any and every other army. I've seen monster combined squads with commissar (and occassionally priest) in tow that roll over Trygons in short order. Scary stuff.

It gets into facepalm territory when you realise Khorne, the God of combat and blood, cannot give his daemons this ability while a few jump pack wearing marines can. To make matters even worse, Lesser Daemons with NO GODS can do this better than Khorne's minions.

To be fair, materialising into real space from another realm of existences probably takes a bit more time than landing on the ground with a jump pack. I'm not saying bloodthirster squads should be given this advantage (that would really be mind-numbing) but they should have access to early hitters (perhaps allowing squads of 5 or less to do so, but at the cost of putting in the Fast Attack like GK do).

MMMMMK WELL

From a total objective, third party point of view (these are not my opinions):

Ultramarines are hated because they are everywhere, they are everything, and all the noobs have them.

Space marines are hated because space marines are loved.

Blood angels, twilight 40,000

Space wolves, space puppies

Chaos are said spiky marines

Necrons are said dinosaurs

Ig do NOT do everything better than every army, they can hardly DS, CANNOT do close combat better than other armies, cannot do MC or fast attack better than other armies. Dont know what your talking about there. IG can do tank spam better than anyone else, and thats about it. Orks will outhoard and outplay hoard IG any day.

Nids are yeah, MC spam which is really lame and boring to play against.

Anything 4th edition is out dated

Probably work

Space Marines: IT'S TOO HARD! WAAAAH!

Blood Angels: The codex that was made for people who couldn't figure out how to play Vanilla Space Marines. I'm sorry, but not EVERYTHING should be a troop choice, and you REALLY shouldn't get the same stuff as other armies, but better. That's not game balance.

Space Wolves/Dark Eldar: GW hates 'nids.

Tau: Not grimdark enough. Naive little pissants who were a blatant grab at the anime 'people' with their gundam knockoff suits. Squats would be less off-topic to the 40k universe.

Imperial Guard: A little too transparently designed to kill MEQ.

Am I doing it right?

GDs would be broken with them, but Bloodletters should have it. With a paultry 5+ save and high cost, it's kinda pointless that they are force to spend a whole turn doing nothing.

Ooo ooo! ill add some on Chaos deamons! (which i play) and Black Templar! (which i play alot!)

Chaos Daemons are broken cause they ALL deepstrike! giving them tactically superiourity in a very tactical game! :O also they all have Eternal Warrior! and Fearless! so Nid lists using lots and lots of boneswords are worthless! :O Nurgle Daemonprinces are just Grossly overpowered!

Black Templar. Seriously...50 points to give the ENTIRE army Preffered enemy? and just keep your marshall on the table and now you are L10 with everything too? zeal to pull yourself out of going to ground every turn? Smoke that is outdated and turns EVERY pen into a glance no matter what? Also Holy Orbs of Antioach? (rip off of Monty python!! Hilarious though) but seriously? a small blast that is AP3, and always wounds on a 2+? causes auto glances on vehicles they touch? Ugh!

I have some complaints as to how the sisters of battle work.

They get crazy things like Rending and 3+ invul saves due to their "boundless faith". Seriously, things happen because they scream they believe it loud enough? Last I checked, Nuns w/ guns =/= orks.

In their next dex, will they get to move an inch faster because they paint their rhinoes red? REALLY? I understand them having faith, but by this logic, grey knights should be getting even bigger bonuses for being faithful, because they are even more so than the SoB.

Also, with how much rage and hatred for xenos, heretics, and maybe men, how can we be sure they are not khorne worshippers... ?

Can you tell that I am not fond of the Sisters of battle?

The sink.

How about that Monolith? It ignores all the rules that make weapons good for killing tanks AND it has 14 AV all around. Did I mention it was cheaper than a land raider?

But what is the point of taking a melta gun or lance if the rules that make it useful don't work? Why don't they just say "Oh, you can't kill this unless you get reeeeaaal lucky. Or happen to have a railgun in your army.

I can only hope that monoliths get nerfed into uselessness and they *keep* phase out. So neener neener you necrons!
