EDIT - Aw hell, how did I miss THAT? Must still have my NYE goggles on - Mods, can you please delete or lock for duplicity?

Hi there,

It's 2011 (already) and every January here at Maelstrom Games (www.maelstromgames.co.uk) we offer a great discount to beat those after Christmas blues. This year, though, we're going to beat the VAT increase blues too, so we're giving you an enormous 17.5% off the UK recommended retail price from the 1st of January for ten days!

YOUR JANUARY SALE VOUCHER
----------------------------------------------------------
Your 17.5% off UK RRP discount voucher starts tomorrow, the 1st of January 2011 (from the first second after midnight GMT, 31st of December 2010) and ends on Monday the 10th of January 2011 at midnight (GMT), ten days of blues-beating fun! It's a great chance to grab yourself all those lovely BaneBeasts we've created over the past year, try out some of the new ranges we've brought in as well as grab stuff for your old favourites at a great discount! It will work on all the items within our webstore, but:

- not on any Seeds of War items
- not on any Too Fat Lardies items
- not on any Games Workshop Direct items
- not on any event tickets
- and additionally, not on anything within our eBay store.

Apart from the above, the voucher will work on pre-orders and, crucially, you'll still earn Moneyback - although tiered discounts are disabled when using a voucher of course.

Your voucher code is: 2011-JANUARY

To use this voucher simply register on the webstore, www.maelstromgames.co.uk (if you haven't already), copy and paste the code into the appropriate field in your basket when you have selected the items you want, press 'REDEEM', and the webstore will do the rest. You are not limited to one purchase and, indeed, we would ask you to recommend us to your friends with this voucher!

Remember though that this voucher is intended for the webstore only - it does not apply to any of our auctions or shop inventory items on eBay.

Happy Ordering!

While I know it is not a good experience for you Shenra they are legit so I am sure they will make good on this. That is a long time though. HAve you checked the numbers on their website/made sure the international dialing code is correctly used/called at a time that they will actually be in the office [time zones and all that]?

I've mentioned in the past that I've only had two problems with Maelstrom:

1. They lost an Imperial City box, but replaced it free of charge after waiting a month (and it was lost during Christmas during a UK Postal worker's strike and everything else in the order including 4 Monoliths and half a dozen other things arrived without issue - so I can kinda forgive them that).
2. It took them 3+ months to send me two Honoured Imperium boxes. This, however, was GW's fault. They were deciding whether to make the Honoured Imperium boxes 'Direct Only' so weren't sending out new ones. Eventually they decided against that, Maelstrom was able to restock, and I had my knock-kneed Marine statues within a week.

I am in a similar situation to yours. I made two orders more than a month ago. One of them consisted on a single item, and was packed after about two weeks, which I find reasonable for christmas season, even if it does not abide by the standards in the FAQ. the second one, which was quite bigger, has been on the "processing" stage since it was ordered, and my efforts to contact the store (trhough the mailing form they have on the web and direct e-mail contact) have received no response.

I have been told they are legit, but I am really displeased with their customer support right now. I find these kind of delays whithout contacting the client, even ignoring the clients demands for information regarding their order, are extremely unproffesional, and I am quite displeased with the store right now.

I mean, how much time consuming is to send a mail to a client twice times a month telling him which items have you restocked by then and when do you expect to have all ordered items ready? Specially if your client is not expecting delays, as your FAQ explains that they restock on 2-3 days if everything goes as planned. Or even just mailing back only when your client specifically asks for that information in an e-mail. But judging by their total silence, they might as well be waiting four our orders, or on a paradisiac island with our money, That habbit of not answering our questions suggests the latter indeed.

The other thing to factor in is that they do about 5000 orders a week when they're having a sale, most of which are GW products. GW only lets them restock once a week, so this causes delays.

I have ordered a few times from Maelstrom and can vouch for them. The only beef I would have with them is that their online store doesn't always jibe with what they have in stock so it is quite possible to order a bunch of items that are all listed as 'in stock' according to the website but then find that actually, they need to be ordered from GW and so your order is delayed. This has happened to me a couple of times although the delay was only by ~2 weeks or so.

As with most of these online discount stores there is a trade-off between speed of delivery and price. If you want it immediately and aren't fussed about paying a little 'extra', then use GW webstore. If you don't mind the wait and want to save the money, go discount.

Maelstrom is a good store, and I am happy I found about it here a year ago.

Have to admit that sometimes the waiting time is long, but hey, the price makes up for it. Never had problems with communication, they always respond to my mails.

I called them and reached them...was dialing international wrong. They were polite and said they were behind on emails. He said it hadn't been 28 working days yet, with Christmas, and to call back if after that time period I still didn't receive.

Was glad to get a response. Still a little worried as I've placed orders with Forgeworld and traded with others via Dakka in the UK since then and have received those items already...so unless the UK has a version of snail mail my item may be lost :( .

But they seem legit and everything. I don't mind being patient as long as I know it's coming eventually and if it doesn't I'll be treated fairly. So go with Maelstrom, just be prepared to wait since they're a bit behind.

Aye, I would assume with all the postal problems leading up to Christmas and just after thats not helping.

Heck I ordered two hundred pounds worth of Eldar on the 29th of Dec, and I've only just got it today.

Thats pretty slow for UK delivery.

If you consider all the international Christmas post that got trapped around various northern postal depots, there must be quite a backlog they would have needed to clear.
