Well the topic says it all. Personally I like the Death Guard better.

Ok. Let's make something perfectly clear. This thread is about which legion of those that would go on to join Horus during the HH (for any reason) and would eventually be termed as traitors (in that the majority of the legion is considered traitor) by the Imperium is your favorite from the time period before they actually became traitors.

Since I have to go through and define this for those who don't listen or simply like to be disruptive this dosen't mean legions that are currently loyal chapters but have had members who became traitors during the HH (i.e Dark Angels). This dosen't mean chapters who have had members turn to chaos as chapters are not legions. This does include those legions that actually turned traitor and loyalist factions remained within them at one point. This does not include any alternate fan made fictions or legions. This does not include the lost legions as their history is unknown. This does not include any fantasies or opinions on if a Legion should have been traitor or not.

These are the Legions acceptable for the topic (which I shoulden't even have to post but obviously have to).

1. Alpha Legion
2. Death Guard
3. Emperors Children
4. Iron Warriors
5. Night Lords
6. Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus
7. Thousand Sons
8. Word Bearers
9. World Eaters

Favorite Legion before and after is the Alpha legion, but strictly pre-heresy would have to be the Luna wolves.

kidding, don't hang me. Night Lords for me. Being sadistic and vengeful enough to frighten rebellions to return to the imperium with a mere rumor that you were going to investigate is pretty awesome. Actually having the guts to butcher the traitors, even better.

Space Wolves are close enough to traitors. Massive mutations, even more massive egos that make them not really a chapter but still a legion. Russ and every Great Wolf since has been to proud to admit that Guillman was right about the legions needing to be split up, to me, implies some pretty heavy heresy.

Anyway, back OT, the coolest pre-heresy legion has got to be the World Eaters and for the same reason the Blood Angels and their successors are so cool. That level of blood thirstiness is just awesome in these sorts of settings. From the fluff I've read it didn't even seem like the World Eaters gave a crap about the Great Crusade except as a reason to chop people into little bits.

They may seem shallow, but World Eaters, mainly because of their colour scheme. I actually think the white and blue looks really good.

Favorite traitor legion: Thousand sons - because they were always the most loyal of the emperor's servants, single-handedly capable of preventing the civil war if not for the intervention of the treacherous Space Wolves.

Least favorite traitor legion: Space Wolves - they exist only because the emperor's most faithful servants (the thousand sons) chose not to destroy them utterly en route to commit their Horus-blinded treachery. They prevailed only because the Thousand Sons let them, for fear of justifying the Space Wolves' heresy if they fought back. Easily misled, stupid to the point of subhuman, hypocritical, illogical, pawns of Horus and then Tzeentch, this legion is a loose cannon that has never fired straight at the enemies of the Imperium, and have done more to further the goals of Chaos than perhaps even Horus himself. There are no words strong enough to encompass these traitors, whose actions are made even worse by the unwillingness of the majority to recognize that their feral incompetence has proven as treacherous to the Imperium and the Emperor as any traitor legion ever has.

Did the entire Space Wolves legion turn to Chaos? This thread is NOT the place for loyalist legions, the title does NOT say "What is your favorite or least favorite of all the legions?". There is a reason I have made it perfectly clear that this is about Traitor legions. Despite your personal opinion the Space Wolves are not traitors. Leave them out of the discussion along with every other loyal legion. Is it really that hard to stay within the actual parameters of the discussion? I mean to me it makes since that if the topic title says Traitor Legions and the OP says Traitor Legions and I have specifically said LEAVE SPACE WOLVES OUT that someone who has actually read the topic would stick to Traitor legions. I find it funny how some people on Dakka don't think they should even stay within a threads boundries.

Lets be fair Warboss, you don't make the rules. It's a forum ultimately, you can make the guidelines for your thread, but you yourself cannot control what people post.
It was easy to predict that people will mention non-traitor Legions, its a popular subject and it always happens.
Ultimately this is a forum and short of being a moderator you can do nothing to stop people posting what they want, Forums are about free speech and you can't change that.
Also, WHY does it have to be only about Traitor Legions?

None-the-less, for me my favourite Legion was probably Night Lords.
However Imperial Fists(!!!) are also cool, as were the Alpha Legion.
