We are quick to slate companies when they get something wrong, but not to praise them when they do something right. So here's a shameless plug for online Games store... Maelstrom Games.
I'm currently posted to the Middle East and am back in the UK for a weeks leave. So I've ordered my supplies from Maelstrom last week, so they'll arrive this week, so when I fly back out on Saturday, I can take them with me. Unfortunately, they are waiting on a couple of items, so my order won't get to me in time for me to take back out with me. A quick phone call later.....................
Order has been split and most of the stuff is being sent out Special Delivery today, so I'll get it before I leave, free of charge! Also the remainder of the order will be sent out Special, but its 50/50 weather I'll get it or not. Seeing as this was quite a nice thing to do, and to not charge me for it, I thought I'd share it with you. For those not familiar with UK Postal Charges, Special Delivery Guarantees next day delivery, but it costs a minimum of £5.00.
I buy most of my stuff from Maelstrom, so I should have a pretty healthy account with them

Not bad at all, especially considering it sounds things are pretty much out of their hands.
The mark of a good company is not so much that they don't mess up, but how well they respond when they do mess up.

The not holding full/too much stock thing seems to be common with most GW stockists which can be a little annoying.
What really impresses me with Maelstrom is their price match service. I have mostly used this for RPGs and books, so you can get Amazon prices from a store that I like to support.

I made a mistake with my details when registering an account (transposed a couple of digits in post code which would mean it went to the wrong area).
A quick "oops!" email later and they fixed it all up for me and I had the goods 4 days later (shipping to Oz and customs clearance means minimum int'l shipping time is 4 days).
No problems with them at all. Goods were well packed and clearly labelled.

They've recently become my go to guys for all painting/modelling/figure needs. Their prices are great, shipping is quick if items are in stock and they have a very wide range of figures, paints and modelling bits and pieces.

They are OK - the prices are good and the cashback scheme is a an excellent idea. I have to admit, every time I have used them there has been quite a delay on receiving the order (approx 2 weeks) but that may be more to me being unlucky rather than a common policy (although clearly they are slower than GW mail order of course).

I'm a satisfied repeat customer and I really value the service I get from them. Service to Japan can be slow, but that's a minor inconvenience compared to a botched order. It's my "go to" shop.

Maelstrom Customer Service fails... took them 1 week to respond to my Vallejo Model Colour complaint.
I ordered the set of 72 paints/mediums and when it arrived it was MISSING 2 complete colours... empty slots in the case... and one of the mediums had been opened and was dried...
After 1 week of harrassing their CS team, I was told I could have a free credit of 6 GBP in order to replace the items... Assuming I would ever buy from them again...
what next? A land raider that has pieces missing from the already-opened box?

Having just spoken to Maelstrom games I have nothing but praise for there customer service.
I ordered an Iron Kingdoms paint set and when it arrived the pot of Rhulic gold was a semi-solid mass of gunk.
Quick call to Maelstrom to discuss it and I have a new pot on the way!

I have used Maelstrom games many, many times, and have never had any real problems with them.
The only time an order had the wrong item, it was sorted PDQ with no stress from my end.
I do have one minor gripe though, and that is special instructions sometimes get ignored - not a biggy really, but annoying none the less.
