Hi,

Please could you recomend places to get really nice/interesting miniatures from places other then GW (nothing wrong with em, just fancy a change). I'm not after specific types just interesting things to paint and look at, like sinister monsters, rat ogres, etc. Things that lend themselves to a more gritty, dark painting style. I've been looking for places but not really found anything great.

So yeah any help will be appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

These guys do leaders and heroes that are essentially aimed tongue-in-cheek at WHFB. As you would expect they are very individualistic.

http://www.giftsforgeeks.org.uk/ also offer many model ranges and a discount.

My two favourite places for minis are:

http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/index.php (Where all the stuff in my gallery is from)

http://www.reapermini.com/ (Where all the stuff that isn't in my gallery yet is from)

Not so much gritty/dark per se, but they definitely cover the "nice/interesting" criteria.

Also try this one:

Some very nice minis there. Other than that I second the recommendations of Hasslefree minis and Reaper minis.

Once you start looking, it is amazing how many great miniature companies there are. So many options and great ideas floating around out there. Many people just stay with Warmachine or GW minis because they play the games and don't concern themselves with painting minis that will not be used in games/tourneys. However, if you want to paint interesting minis, there are tons of great companies out there.
