I use plastic glue for plastic models and super glue for metal models...

Wait! You wanted more than that?

OK;

Poly-cement (IIRC) is what you want for plastic models generally; it melts the plastic between the pieces to form a bond.

Super-glue varies from brand to brand. The best I've used is gel based, so it sticks while drying. ATM I use a cheap, super market brand which is a bit too watery for my liking but it has good staying power and drys quite quickly.

Never use GW super glue. The only thing I find it is good for is for hardening green stuff as it cures. Its probably a bad idea in the long run but if your using GS to do a bit of smoothing or to help attach something this is a good way of making it cure faster.

I use CA for everything. Why?

Its simple- plastic glue is permanent- it fuses the plastic together. While this isnt a bad thing- it drastically reduces the trade value of the figs because they cant be reposed if they were made poorly.

And its simpler to just have one adhesive for metal, plastic and resin.

I use superglue for everything, simply because I don't have any plastic glue on hand. Honestly, with the way I treat my minis, I'm not too worried about the more brittle bond (besides, I can always pin it if I'm worried). I would like to be able to weld plasticard for future scratchbuilding efforts, though.

Plastic glue for plastic models I don't want to trade or sell my mini's so I don't worry about repositioning its a blue bottle of ploystyrene cement with a thin metal needle for the actual glue to come out from usualy covered in a yellow plastic cover and any old superglue now that I can't steal it from work anymore

I am using JB Weld to put together two VERY difficult warmachine models, Karchev and a behemoth warjack, two of the most difficult to build models warmachine has. It has worked great so far. I use 12 gauge solid copper wire to pin and JB stik weld for the glue. I also use JB weld for repairing car parts, mounting transmissions, patching exhaust leaks, etc etc etc.

Revell plastic cement for plastic, "Uhu plus 5min" 2part epoxy glue if metal or resin is involved. The latter takes some patience when holding the parts but is less fragile than super glue bonds.

Super glue for everything but i am starting to miss the posability of plastic glue for certain things. Such as getting vehicle hulls to fit perfectly and rifle wielding models such a Kabalite warriors. Also i now fret over my plastic conversions breaking.

I'm also in the superglue camp, with superglue and pinning+GS when things won't stick on right (like, say, metal to plastic).

While plastic glue contains acetone in it, all superglues are the same. Some add a thickener to it, while some add a thinner so that it can be applied with a brush, but the actual binding agent is the same, no matter what glue you buy.

That's why I get my superglue in the 8-packs from the hardware store.
