Slowly putting together an Ork army. This is my fancy paintin' project, so I'm moving really slowly. No batch painting on this one, which is funny, because I've chosen another horde army to tray and lavish detail on. Why do I do these things to myself?

Bummer about the flash in these, but here they are:

Waaagh!

Thank you! I love how the black orcs head work with the nobz. Checkers are surprisingly fun to paint.

Thanks! These guyz are always on my mind. I just don't have as much painting time at the moment.

Thanks, I am really going to try and keep going on these guys slow but steady.

I actually got a little bit of work done on the army, not painting, but building.

The Battlewagon with lifta-droppa was a Christmas gift from my wife, and she has been pushing me to build it. It's really rewarding to finish building a model and watch her turn it over in her hands, admiring it but pointing out how impractical the gunning position is, because the ork would fall off.

The infantry figure is made from bits and a body for Mad Doc Grotsnik that I looted from a friend's bits box. I'll use him as a painboy with the nobs, probably.

Cheers,

Nice piece of FW you have there, now put it at the top of your painting list as I want to se it all painted up in the same, lovely, manner as you other minis!

Very nice work. Your orks skin is especially nice. Im jealous of your battlewagons lifta droppa. Regardless I cant wait to see what you do with that.

It had better be called Marvin.

Thank you! It is at the top of the list. After how much my wife shelled out for it, she wants to see it painted, too! I'll post the WIP photos once I get started, I'm going to try my hand at salt weathering.

Thank you. The GW paint line is really perfect for painting ork skin - they have so many nice greens, and Thrakka Green is pure magic.

Ha, yes, he has had a bad day. The story behind that guy is he is a resculpt of one of the very first figures I ever sculpted, waaaaay back in 2000 or so. I was playing WHFB and was a broke college kid, so I sculpted some squigs out of air-drying, Crayola brand clay, with tooth picks for teeth. My favorite had a sword sticking in his head , and the expression you see above. I called him "Humphrey".

@RutgerMan - thanks, pal. I'll keep truckin'.
@bigMek - thanks!

Gotta give kudos where kudos are due.

Well done... especially on the check-work (diamond and standard). Yellow "teef" are awesome as well.

Making me envious for a bit more hobby time.

Keep up the good work.

I hear you on the time issue, my friend. It's a rare commodity these days. Thanks for the nice comments, I am pleased with how the Goffs are coming.

The only work I've gotten done lately is a little bit of a conversion. A friend let me steal his Mad Doc Grotsnik body that he had in his bits box, so now I've got a Painboy!

Cheers,

#1 - Can anyone say "Holy crap Kaboom!"?

#2 - About the Ork falling off, aren't Orks usually not in the best places anyways?

Thanks, Good Green! Bunny, yeah, I tried to explain the Orkish approach to engineering, but she would have none of it.

Ok, managed to get some painting done, despite being distracted by my growing Malifaux collection. The first Nob Biker is ready to roll:

I took my orks out for their first 1,000 point battle and these fellas along with my Stormboyz were the MVP for sure. The Battlewagon immobilized itself on the first turn, and everyone else performed as expected, but 3 ork bikers raced up in front of 13 stormboyz to give them cover, and soaked up shooting from the entire 1,000 Eldar force, including a full bladestorm vs. the Stormboyz and managed to lose only 2 wounds - 1 on a nob and one on the stormboyz. > I love it when that happens!
