why do you want to know? huh? HUH?

I've been making a terrain board with a river running through the middle of the board but can't decide what to do with a bridge. This board is in a feild with grasslands more natre than urban. A wooden bridge seems to much WHFB. I can't not put a bridge. How on earth are my orks supposed to get to the other side. If i don't put a bridge they'll stand at the edge of their side of the table and get shot up by bolters. Can someone please help?

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

You could use a pontoon bridge - a temporary structure put there by the invading army.

You could use a stone bridge.

You could create a "ford" or other crossing point.

You could create a ramshakle ork bridge made out of wood, metal, squigs, and anything else they could find to nail together

Any of those idea sound like what you want.

You could also do a decrepit forgotten Imperial monument bridge that may or may not have been defiled

Hirstarts makes a bridgemould for like 30 bucks and you can cast and design the bridge however you like

Maybe a small metal suspension bridge?

For Orks that makes the most sense of all how do we cross the river? by krumping something and jamming it in the water! You would need to show the water rising up around it a bit to indicate that the normal path of the stream has been a bit disrupted.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

How wide is the river?

You can BUT 'metal' truss bridge kits (they're usually for railway layouts, but plasticard can do wonders).

We still use wooden bridges now. Not every imperial world has the same high tech level. Some are probably still at a pre-industrialised state.

4" LONG is not a river, it is a puddle.

4" WIDE would be a small river and easy enough to cross with a variety of commercially available railway model kit bridges from various time periods.

The technobridge is easy to put together and will cover a 6" WIDE river with a little work.

It's wide enough to fit a baneblade on, too.

I would probably do it something in thw way of a removable bridge, so a ramp at either end etc. However long the gulf the river, I would At LEAST double that length for the total structure.

On that point, I would do it suspension bridge style. This way if you want a clean river, you dont have pegs sticking out of it, and you dont have to muck with trying to get the height *perfect*, so that it looks like it goes into the water, without the weight of the bridge and models actually gouging your water effect.

If you bought the imperial sector parts... and you are creative, you could more than likely do an awesome bridge with parts left over for other things, trouble is, that might be an expensive bridge at the end of it.

On this point, it could be easilly achieved by rigorously attacking your sprues. Theres a thread somewhere else on this side regarding buiulding terrain from left-over sprues. Perfectly valid option

I'd like to see a couple of imerial vehicles krumped and driven into the river possibly a land raider and a rhino/chimera nicely damaged and flattened to make a road surface which you could make removeable for your wooden bridge for WH Fantasy

I too recommend the Pegasus 'Technobridge'. But if you're poor, an improvised bridge of wrecked vehicles would be pretty easy to do, and very orky.

While I'm certainly not trying to derail the bridge-building, it's possibly worth pointing out that 'river' does not automatically mean 'impassable terrain'... You can nominate at the start of the game whether your water feature is going to be deep and un-crossable (Impassable Terrain), shallower and difficult to cross (Difficult and/or Dangerous Terrain), or shallow and easily forded (Clear Terrain that just looks pretty, possibly with Dangerous thrown in to represent slick rocks or strong current).

Good point. For extra game excitement, agree with your opponent before the game that the river's depth isn't known, and when the first model wades/drives into it, roll a dice to decide which category of terrain it is for the rest of the game.

Why have you said this twice already? Have you looked at any of the products shown? I'm tempted to get more than a few of them, and I don't even have river sections!
