I read the title of this post and thought someone was having a sale and Dave Graffam's papercraft ruined it.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

These look great for war-gaming on a budget. Has anyone put together and used any of these? Opinions on it?

Mordheim or Malifaux would benefit from these, scale permitting.

Dave two questions mate:

1. Do you have pictures with miniatures pose on/in them?

2. Do you have a UK/European retailer?

You don't need a retailer you get a download of skins and instructions and print as many out as you want.

There is no scale on them. It is (probably) a PDF file. When you print it, you adjust the scale to print the size you want.

That is how papercraft works.

I know, but I want pics of it printed and assembled with marines and/or guardsmen on.

2. These are downloaded digital (PDF) products. If I can figure out a way to make it feasible, I'd love to get some stuff into physical shops, but so far I haven't found a way to make it cost-effective for the shop, the customer any myself all at once. I'll keep looking for retail solutions, though.

I've bought some and I think they are great. Assembly does not take long, and as long as you aren't rough, the finished product will hold up to your gaming needs. You can fit each template to the scale you are needing. If I remember correctly, instructions/suggestions are included about scale, but I may be making that part up. I would definitely recommend Dave's templates. Just be sure you use 100 lb paper or something close to it, its worth spending a little bit more for it to last longer.

About two hours, as I recall.

Yeah, instructions for changing the scale are included. It's just a matter of changing your printer driver's print percentage down from 100% to whatever's appropriate for the scale. For example, for a 15mm scale model you'd just set your printer to print at 50% of the original size.

I've used plasticard for some papercraft projects. It can take a little work to get the angles right, but it's not too much hassle, honestly. It makes for a much sturdier model too... unless you use layered paper or something.

I might make a card one, backed up by cardboard after cutting out.

A few tips for Papercraft modeling and making it last.

1) Print on 8.5x11 Shipping Labels. These are readily available from Staples and allow you to adhere your print outs to any material you want (I use 3mm Foamed PVC or 1mm Plasticard). The best part about them is they are designed to never come off, curl or bleed ink. Then simply cut the print outs around the shapes after printing.

2) New blades in your knife. All the time.

3) Sharpie the edges. Sharpie markers will bleed in and cover up those 'white' edges where you've scored or bent.

Hope that helps. There are a ton of papercraft advice sites out there. Its a fun hobby!

Nice! I might actually print on card and layer plasticard in to give it more support. I'll let you know how it turns out, but it's a while away.

Cool! I must get me some of them. Look really good.

Has any one experience of building them?I suspect they're like the downloadable textures you can get for e.g. railway modelling too. Just need a high quality printer, good paper and thicknesses of cardboard and good sharp knife.

I think some of the 7mm railway modelling texctues Ive got would work for 40K.....ponders http://www.scalescenes.com/scratchbuilders-yard
