Thought I'd break out the Orks as I haven't used them for a bit and see how they do against Dave's new Tyranid list.

Deployment
I won the roll off and four objectives were placed on the table, two my side two Daves side which will be called Ork and Tyranids objectives right and left flank respectively. I deployed my Grots in a ruin close to the right hand objective on my side along with a unit of Lootas. I then put a unit of Lootas in terrain near the other objective while my Wagons deployed close together to get the 4+ cover save.
Dave put the
HQ Tervigon along with some Termagants on the right flank close to his objective while on the left flank he put a Carnifex, Tervigon, Termagants and Hive Guard while in the centre he put another Tervigon and the Carnifex joined with the Tyranid Prime - one of his objectives was in the centre too. The Genestealers infilitrated which I was suprised about because they was in plain sight and close to me.
* Tactical Notes
I will keep my Deffkopters held back and turbo boost them on turn 4 to get close to the objectives in order to contest. I'll keep my Orks back until Dave draws close and I'll bail out and launch an assault, though first thing(s) I am gunning for is the Genestealers as they're annoying and can open my tanks without me getting a save. After I'll go for Hive Guard and the Carnifexes which can open my tanks at range exposing my Boyz to Tyranid assault.
Turn 1
Dave attempts to seize the initiative but fails.
I scuffle tanks forward a little bit but nothing major while the Deffkopters just pop out from behind the ruin where the Grots are.
Shooting I wipe out a Genestealer unit with shoota fire and put some wounds on the other, I also manage to wound a Hive Guard with Loota fire. Deffkopters put another wound on a 'Stealer unit.
Daves turn he attempts to spawn some Termagants and burns two Tervigons out straight away if I remember right, he then starts his move towards me.
Shooting Hive Guard open fire at Battlewagons but don't do nothing.
* Tactical Notes
Good start for me wiping out a Genestealer unit and taking out some Hive Guard. Dave didn't get much like burning out two Tervigons and he also failed a psychic test for catalyst costing him a wound on the Tervigon on the left flank.
My plan is to carrying on blasting the Genestealers and the Hive Guard and I'll take it from there.
Turn 2
I move the Battlewagons about a bit so the oncoming horde will need 4+ to hit if they reach my lines next turn while I move the Deffkopters back into hiding.
Shooting I blast the Genestealers with pretty much everything I've got but two still remain, damn catalyst! I blast the wounded Hive Guard unit and kill one model off and wound another. Lootas nail a Carnifex on the left flank leaving it with a single wound left.
Dave calls for reserves but the Ymgarls still sleep away. He spawns some Termagants with the last Tervigon on the left flank and tries catalyst again but it fails the psychic test again and takes another wound; other catalyst powers go off ok.
Shooting a Battlewagon gets wrecked by a Carnifexes devourers, the Boyz bail out.
In assault the two Genestealers charge the closest Battlewagon but fail to do any damage.
* Tactical Notes
It's going so-so I've lost a Battlewagon but I will pull those Boyz back onto the objective the Lootas are contesting in terrain, they will hold that and act as a counter assault if anything comes close to the Lootas. I've managed to take out some Hive Guard but those Fexes are starting to be a problem, though one of them has only one wound after a mass of Loota fire, though I would have probably done better firing at the Carnifex with the Prime which ended up wrecking my Wagon.
Next turn I'll keep pressure on the Hive Guard to secure the left flank from ranged fire power at least (almost) and soften up the Fex and Prime unit with Loota and shoota fire.
Turn 3
I move the Boyz squad which got busted out their Wagon onto the Loota held objective in terrain. I move the rest of the Wagons a little bit.
Shooting I empty Lootas at the wounded Carnifex to finish it off but it makes the saves, I blast the Hive Guard with shootas close by it dies, yay! I blast the Prime and Fex unit but they take no wounds after saves.
Dave calls for reserves and the Ymgarls come in from the terrain piece on my left flank as I suspected, they move towards the Boyz which are in terrain. The Tyranids move close with Dave spawning good rolls for Termagants and casting catalyst where needed as the Carnifex with the Prime and the supporting one moves towards the Battlewagons.
No damage done in the shooting phase, either saved by
KFF or nothing done.
In assault the Carnifex charges the Battlewagon but fails to hit. Ymgarls multi assault a Battlewagon and the Boyz, the Boyz get cut down in sweeping advance and the Wagon is destroyed along with a single Ymgarl.
* Tactical Notes
Daves bad luck of dice rolls seemed to die off with him spawning good Termagant numbers and getting catalyst off every time, though it returned when his Carnifex failed to hit my Wagon; good times for me! I've sort of managed to secure the left flank from ranged fire power, the Devil-Fex doesn't bother me that much if I keep the front of the Wagon facing but it would have been nice if it was dead. Shame I lost a entire Boyz unit to Ymgarls though, however they have sprung the trap, with a unit of Boyz dead another unit of Boyz is ready to assault but more importantly the troop choice of Nobz is right on the door step which means they can assault the Ymgarls and then move onto the objective as my Boyz plough into the Tyranid ranks.
Next turn will be a balls to the wall assault. Boyz out the busted Wagon will move forward and start gunning down Termagants, Dave hasn't kept the Termagants in range of the Tervigon so I will assault them if I can, I will clear the wounded 'Fex off before though. The Ymgarls will be shot with Lootas which will maul the 4+ armour save with deffguns and the Nobz will follow up with a assault. Boyz will bail out shoot and assault the Carnifex, with 20 Boyz and a power klaw the Fex won't win while the Warboss and Nobz will bail out and charge the Prime and Carnifex super unit.
Turn 4
Nobz wagon moves towards the Ymgarls and the Nobz bail out as the Lootas on the objective turn to blast them while the other Boyz close by move out of terrain from the exploded Wagon and move towards some Termagants. Warboss and Nobz bail out the Wagon and move towards the Prime-Fex unit as the other unit of Boyz bail out ready to assault the Carnifex. Both Kopters come out to play with one super boosting up the right flank and the other super boosting up the centre of the board landing in terrain and passing the terrain test.
I call a waaagh! and run the Warboss and Nobz towards the Carnifex as the Nobz troop choice moves towards the Ymgarls, though after the Lootas blasted them but thanks to poor rolls didn't kill many. The Boyz on foot blast Termagants while the other Boyz blast the Carnifex. To cover the Boyz on the left flank Lootas blast and kill the wounded Carnifex leaving no anti tank fire power on that flank while the other Lootas hammer the Prime-Fex but score no wounds after saves; rubbish!
In assault Nobz charge the Ymgarls; Ymgarls cause a single wound though the Nobz strike back and kill them all, Nobz consolidate into terrain close to the objective guarded by the Lootas. Warboss and Nobz charge the Prime-Fex, I make sure the Warboss gets into base contact with the Carnifex only while big choppa Nobz tie up the Prime, a Nob takes a wound but the Prime gets battered by big choppa and power klaw and is mush and the Carnifex is left with a single wound. The other Carnifex gets charged and combat remains on, the 'Fex hasn't got many wounds left though!
Dave spawns more Termagants and moves units towards the centre objective while a unit of Termagants and Tervigon head towards the 'Kopter on the right flank.
Shooting the 'Kopters both get shot a lot but neither takes a wound!
In assault both Carnifexes snuff it leaving just the Tervigons as the only monstrous creatures on the table.
* Tactical Notes
Well that was a good turn for the Orks seeing the Ymgarls destroyed securing the objective on my left flank and three Carnifexes dead which could hurt my Boyz with mass shooting. All I need to do now is hope my Deffkopters hold out when they turbo boost onto the Tyranid objectives, hope my Nobz and Warboss can hold out against Tyranids and move the Grots onto the objective my side.
Turn 5
I turbo boost the 'Kopter on the right flank into terrain without any problems contesting Daves right flank objective as I get my Boyz back into the Wagon who just killed the Carnifex and move them towards the 'Kopter tank shocking some Termagants but not killing many. Other unit of Boyz on foot move towards some Termagants.
Shooting Lootas soften up the Termagant horde and put a wound on a Tervigon while the Boyz blast Termagants.
Assault, Dave moved the models closest to my Boyz so they cannot get into the fight, though the Warboss and Nobz charge wiping a unit out, the Orks consolidate back into terrain contesting the Tyranid objective.
Daves turn he moves a unit of Termagants to surround my Wagon which tank shocked them and the Tervigon gets ready to assault it.
Shooting he blasts the Deffkopter on his centre objective and kills it and hammers the Nobz with fleshborer fire each all taking a wound. The 'Kopter on his other objective gets I.D'd by the Hive Guard leaving the objective back in control of the Tyranids.
In assault Dave surrounds my Wagon, assaults and wrecks it which means the Boyz inside as destroyed :( sneaky sneaky!

* Tactical Notes
What has turned from a cracking 3rd and 4th turn has now switched tables. Both Deffkopters have died leaving one objective back in Tyranid hands and the Warboss has two wounds left and each Nob a single wound! Not to mention I forgot to move my Grots onto my own objective which means if turn 6 doesn't happen Dave will win as he claims both his objectives, the Warboss is too far away to contest!
Turn 6
We roll for it and a 4 comes up, rock on!
Grots are the first thing to move claiming the Ork objective. Warboss and Nobz move closer contesting the Tyranid objective while Boyz move to shoot and assault Termagants.
Assault Warboss and Nobz charge and kill move Termagants, they consolidate back into terrain contesting the objective but a large unit of Termagants a small unit and a Tervigon are still close by. The Boyz charge and kill another Termagant brood. It all rests on the Nobz to hold out..
Dave fires everything he can at the Nobz and starts to kill them off, he assaults them with multiple Termagant units and a Tervigon which sees them dead.
Game ends in a draw with Orks holding two objectives and Tyranids two objectives.
Summary
That was a action packed game from the start. Turn 1 I didn't do huge amounts of damage though I did see a unit of 'Stealers dead. Dave didn't have much luck burning out two Tervigons and failing a psychic test, which he did again next turn. Turn 3 and turn 4 came crunch time as the Ymgarls appeared and multi assaulted taking out a Wagon and a Boyz squad, but with high Ork presence they got killed themselves - it was then down hill for the Tyranids with the Carnifexes all dying in a single turn to gun fire or assault. What let it down for me was the 'Kopters, if that one would have held out on the right flank game would have been mine, god damn instant death!
Only mistake I can see I made was forgetting to move the Grots on turn 5 so I'm lucky turn 6 happened!
Dave tried his new list and liked it and it did well. He needs to keep the Termagants close to the Tervigon as I took advantage of this several times which caused him to lose three Termagant squads thank to lack of counter attack, toxin sacs etc etc though when the Termagants charged the difference could be seen.
Good game, things changed at the end which made it more interesting.
