So I'm starting a space wolves succesor chapter (Red Jackals; name may change but I think its good...)
I want to use fenrisian wolves (not the TWC), but I'm not sure that I like the GW wolves models. I want something more unique, and since Jackals are wild dogs, not wolves, I'm thinking of using feral dog models in their place.
I've looked at the Arbites cyber-mastiffs, and I do like them, but since GW only sells them in the Arbites ganger set, they won't work, I need about 15, and at $40 bucks each, this is out. Plus, what would I do with all those arbites (actually, an IG arbites army sounds cool, but I degres; although I will get one for the pack leader, and use the arbites for my Inquisition forces..)
Anyways, I've "binged" 28mm dog models, (and variations there of) and turned up exactly NIL.
Anyone with any ideas, please post. I'm all ears.

Looks good, actually...might be alot of work, though, making them "clean". Good price though....defintaly the right price.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Being in the fantasy sectiopn, I looked around, and the Hounds of Orion seem to fit my bill pretty good. A bit pricey at $15 for 2, but heck, the whole hobby is pricey, so...
Automatically Appended Next Post: was hoping to find some miniatures by other companys, as they tend to be cheaper than GW.

You might want to change it from successor chapter to lost company...

Yeah, I know. Since there are NO SW successors...upon further contemplation, it'll probably not have anything to do with the SW chapter, just use their codex. Most likly fleet-based chapter.
I plan to put it up in the "in-progress" section as it develops ( and models get painted).

The model is from Circle of Oroboros or something like that.
That looks like Laris, which is eKaya's unique companion beast. I don't think OP is looking to spend $25 USD per wolf and an additional figure he doesn't need.
I'd suggest the PP Warwolf, but they're still $13 USD each.

Yeah, if i had the money I would, but $25 each for a 15 strong unit, that might be a little much. I think I'm going to go with the GW Hounds of Orion. Still a little pricy at $15 for 2 ($120-ish for the whole unit), but they fit the bill of wild dogs, rather than wolves. (as a side not, the orion box, w/ hounds, is $30. So why are his hounds $15? That means the Orion model is only $15 by himself. WTF?).
Still looking though. Thanks, guys, for responding, I DO appriciate the input very much.

Reaper's got a few dogs, although they aren't precisely jackals for the most part. Save the last one, but it's "supposed" to be more of a statue. Pretty sure I've seen dogs from other minis companies, but I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Product links through the pics.
I'm going to have to look for those dog models, because Thunderpoodle cavalry would just be fantastic
On a more constructive note, maybe some of the huge catalogue of D&D miniatures would do the job? They're reasonably cheap, but would need some light conversion work and I'm not sure of their exact scale, something like:

If it's not a hurry, maybe consider waiting for Tomb Kings to be released. Given their Egyptian Nature, they might have something in the way of Jackel-like beasts.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Its not a rush, and yeah, I'm going to put it off until I find just the right models that I want.

I found this 54mm model that is definitely more dog than wolf. Not sure how convenient it would be to use it though. Nice model, sorry I couldn't get the pic from the page.

I've bought a few of their dinosaur models for use in my exodite army. The scale of these dogs would make them very big in the 28mm range. Very affordable given the alternatives as well, depending on the retailer they're about $5 each.

Yeah, I can see that in the St. Bernard and the husky, but the others are normal dog poses. I understand if you want teeth-bared, hackle-raised deth-killy hounds of hell though. Use wolves for that.

...Ahh, but the wolves are too SW-ish. Not to fear, I'll find some Jackal looking things eventualy.
