Subject: Video game series that should be made into films.
A series of films totally should be: Dawn of War Dawn of War: Winter Assault Dawn of War: Dark Crusade Dawn of War: Soulstorm Dawn of War II Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising Dawn of War II: Retribution
Damn, that's giving Call of Duty a run for its money in terms of game numbers. Although I seriously would love to see the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as a movie.
feth me, but an epic super-long film, showing the perspective of all three campaigns, of Aliens vs Predator 2010.
Star Wars: Republic Commando would be great too. But it'd definitely only be any good if it used REAL actors where possible, above-par animation and have lots 'n' lots of gore. SW just died because it ain't gritty 'n' grimdark enough.
Hell, the storyline of some of those old Army Men video games would've been great.
No way you could fit a Dungeon Siege story line into a movie.. no way.. unfortunately.
Hey, they should TOTALLY do a movie of the Lord of the Rings video games! That'd be awesome!

Well, actually, Fallout 3 might well be better suited to the big screen, as it's full o' plasma rifle wielding heroes. Would be a trilogy at least, though.. hmph.

None of them as long as Uwe Boll continues to exist.

Seeing as Hollywood has a long standing tradition of fething concepts over and turning them into trainwrecks (Super Mario Bros.: why?!), I'd rather not.
However, if one must I'd go with Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, heavens that is a great game with good atmosphere and fun characters such as Jack and melon-fething Damzel. Also, Saints Row 2, though I doubt the movie could come anywhere close to the fun insanity and anti-social levels that the game displays.

Let's not. Movies based on Role-playing games never end well.
Or start well, for that matter.

How about..... Fallout. No numbers, no :Additional Info, just Fallout. With The Master.
None of the Fallouts compare to Fallout.

That does not make sense.
Yea, I mean, who's ever heard of a Football movie...
Well, aside from "Remember the Titans"... And "Gridiron Gang"... And "Rudy"... "Any Given Sunday"... "Friday Night Lights"...
Huh. I guess there're perhaps -too many- Football movies.
How did you forget both of the Longest Yards?

Arma 2
Half Life (the original, not 2)
Diablo (again, the original)
Star Wars Dark Forces
Leisure Suite Larry 1 (could be a new american pie like series)

I don't know why writers feel that they have to feth up the source material so liberally whenever they make a screenplay based on a videogame. I'd rather have Hollywood stay far away from my favorite games, thanks.
If, by some miracle of divine intervention, there were to be some games that were actually translated from the source material, here are a few that would make for awesome movies:
Silent Hill 2 (Except for the makeup and special effects, the film was a travesty. The ridiculous amount of metaphors and brilliant poeticism contained within Silent Hill need to be done justice on the big screen)
Final Fantasy Tactics (The script is fantastic, and could easily be condensed into two and a half or three hours. It would make for an incredible and very emotional film [preferrably animated in the style of Akihiko Yoshida instead of acted out in live action, as that was one of the best aspects of the game], and it would much more relevant than any other Final Fantasy when translated into film, because it causes you to question the very fabric of society itself).
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (The overall storyline and breathtaking world would make for a great movie, though the pacing would have to be increased dramatically to get it to work).
I would say Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto IV, but those are both already so cinematic that they hardly need a movie treatment.

^^ I've seen that already, but it plays out like a chopped and screwed version of the first act of the game, and it doesn't really end up making any sense.
Still, it's pretty cool that someone was able to do that within a game engine.

Video Games and Movies simply are too different of medias to really translate well from one to the other.
You can sometimes get a decent or even good crossover, but only when the adaption basically ignores all the elements from the original work other than the setting.
So, my vote is for none. Do not make another movie based on a video game ever again.
Video games based on movies are sometimes good, but the movie has to be at least 5 years old (Goldeneye is the obvious exception).
Actually, Gears of War has some good material (including novels that is)
There is actually talks of a gears movie Cliff bleidontknowhowtospellhisnamesky is working out the buget for it started at 100 million but nw the studio is thinking more like 60 million
This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!
