Hi Dakka fans and members. I just want to say thanks to all you guys that are part of this great community. Over the years you guys have not only helped us grow as a company, but you have become friends. I say thanks to that and happy gaming.

Just recently (this weekend) we launched our new website. Www.battlefoam.com. It's version 3.0 with a full overhaul of the old site. We just wanted to see how you guys feel about it. Everyone of your opinions and ideas matter and will only serve to create a better shopping experience for all. Take a minute to look over the site, and email us your feedback.

Things like overall feel, look, and function is what we want to know about. We can always add new features and still have many more options still waiting to get a green light.

P.s, the Custom Tray Creator is down for just another day while we add some new shapes and features. It will be live on Monday.

Thank you for you time guys, and most of all your support.

It looks better than the old website, which was a bitch to navigate....

Here's a couple of things I've noticed.

1) Update your heavy weapon pictures. Since you've updated your heavy weapon cutouts you've updated a few of your pictures but you're still missing:
Basilisk tray
http://www.battlefoam.com/products/%28IG%29-3-Basilisk-24-Heavy-Weapons-Foam-Tray-%28IG09BF%252d4%29.html

2) Why is your quality guarantee in french?
"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.

3) I like the "Compare" function, however, it would be really cool if it showed the cut outs and sizes. I spent roughly 3 hours last Saturday comparing all of your infantry sized trays to find the best 1"3/4 x 1"3/4 load out to fit my grey knights.

4) Allow numbers and slashes in search. Another reason it took me 3 hours is because I couldn't search for 1 3/4 and I had to go to each tray individually.

Other than that I really like the new site!

Splitting hairs here, but that's not French, it's actually Lorem Ipsum which is a dummy text used by the printing and typesetting industry. Following is from http://www.lipsum.com/

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Looks like this has been fixed now though...

The only thing I've noticed is that you use light grey text on a lighter grey background. Not ideal combination as can be difficult to read, maybe use white font or even black or dark grey? aside from that, nice, crisp and professional looking site.

Hm... I'm having a lot of trouble using the site. On the frontpage in the drop down section, when I first access the site, it says there's an error. Then when I want to use the drop downs, they are obscured by the bottom part of the site. The grey bit. Took a screenshot to help show the problems - and this problem occurs both in FF and in IE...

A little bit more tricky to navigate than the older site, the older site was more straight forward, but that's just from having to figure out where everything is. I'm not sure if you had the massive close ups of the foam trays on the old site, I don't remember seeing them. But I'm loving that.

I turn them off as they're generally 90% 'filler.'

The Gallery isn't working for me. it looks like it's because of mixing http and https content in the same page.( noticed this in Chrome (Windows) and Safari (Mac).

Gorlack - I think your just getting the DNS servers hitting your area. You seem to be uploading a bit of the old site, with some of the new site on top. Weird but normal when you do a full site switch. We completely changed the site so all the pages and content need to populate the entire world wide web. That normally takes 24 to 48 hours.

Let me know if you still have that same issue in a day or two.

Also, we appreciate some of the other pointers. We are working on the text color and should have that all set to white shortly. Other features will also come online over the next week.

Stay tuned.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I just tried using the site to actually buy something. Let me run you through it real quick.

1. Typed in "battlefoam.com" in the url bar.
2. Took me to old site. Weird, but ok.
3. Added the 2 trays I wanted
4. Tried to check out. When I hit the calculate shipping button, it freaked out and loaded the new site inside the checkout window while still in the old site.
5. I re-added the new trays inside the new window inside the old site. I used the custom options of the one, which I really like, but it was not available on the other. No biggy.
6. Check out again. Paypal will not work, and I can not log in to the b-foam site to use my information.
7. Come to this thread to use Balance's link.
8. Repeat steps 5 and 6. Still no joy.
9. Type this out and give up. Not really in a spot to call in the order, so not happening right now.

Just found something. Not a mistake, but something more annoying.
I like the "news feed" on the main page. I like to take my time to digest what I'm reading, though. On almost every update, the site switched to the net story before I got to finish the one I was on.
When I clicked on the "Gaming Saloon" story, I got -essentially- a blank page.

Any chance for getting a "pause" button on the cycling "news feed" section of the main page?

Eric

Update:
Okay. Now, I see the links below the cycling feed. I still would like the chance to pause it, though, so I can read the flavor text on it.

Not a new site thing, but I noticed the PP faction specific toppers.

Do you think you could offer 5-packs of them, or a mix-n-match pack with a lower price point?

I have multiple factions and at $7 each, I do not see myself spending $49 on toppers jsut for the symbol.

New website is nice but here are a few suggestions (just so you know, I used to help manufacturers design websites at an old job):

There needs to be a link on the top for "Produducts." The actual way to get to the products section is at the very bottom right of my screen and it's only for new products, the rest is "below the fold" and i have to scroll down. It took me more than a couple seconds to figure out where your products are and that's never a good thing where your goal is to get me to buy.

Once you are looking at products, every link in the left column needs to go somewhere. So far, I've clicked on two that take me to a page with no products (Mantic and Heavy Gear). Even if you don't have products for sale yet, you can at least have a preview of what's coming, otherwise, until there are products there shouldn't be a link.

The trade bags section needs clarification, specifically under the Trade in Credit section. Is that the max amount we're allowed to trade in or...?

Other than that, pretty nice!
