Is it unwise to run a Nob unit in 1k games?
I'm trying out a lot of different army lists and I have yet to
build up a Nob unit.
With a 5 model unit weighing in at around 250 points, it seems like a huge point sink.
Anyone have any input?

I don't think so, they're a powerful unit, and if you got a warboss they're troops.

I don't get how they're 250 points for 5 nobz?
5 mega nobz aren't even that much they're only 200.

Here is the Nob Mob I was considering...

Nob Mob

2x Nob w/ Power Klaw, Eavy Armor, Cybork - 110
1x Nob w/ Big choppa, Eavy Armor, Cybork - 35
1x Nob w/ Waaagh Banner, Eavy Armor, Cybork - 45
1x Painboy w/ Eavy Armor, Cybork - 60

Total 250

Add in a trukk to get them across the field quickly...

I just don't know if that's viable in 1k games.

I fielded mega nobz in a 1250 match last saturday and they did pretty well.

nobz groups are definatly situational, the powerklaw can do some serious dmg but i find them really useful in taking out monstrous creatures/ vehicles. then again the strat is usually throw boys w/ 1 nob in there and let the boyz take the hits.

i'd say its worth tying to see if you lik eit, but it is alot of points for a 1k points game

Yeah i guess try it see if you like it. but for those points you could take mega nobz for around the same cost with but get so much more

At 1000pts I've had success with 5 mega-nobs and a war boss in a battlewagon. Point them at the opposing army and charge. At that point level, there isn't a ton of things that will instant kill the nobs. If you need to you can detach the warboss to go eat something else also.

Read any of my battle reports at 1000pts+ - there is a unit of 6 diversified Nobz in a Trukk making up 1/3 of the army... I generally have a good run with them
