Neophyte undergoing Ritual of Detestation

Hello, I'm both a new Dakka user and Warhammer 40k player. This thread's going to be for now to show my progress with my Orks. I think that, for someone who's never painted ANYTHING remotely decent before, I did quite well I know that I should drill out the gun barrels, but I don't really have money for the tools.

Not too shabby for a new painter. clean up the blue run off from the bolt/plate on the CCW and maybe some Thrakka Green Wash on the skin and Asurmen blue wash on the blue pants. I always put a gloss varnish painted onto teeth when the mouth is open like that when I used to paint orks.

Actually, the blue on the plate is supposed to be there Thanks for reminding me about the washes, I still need to remember to use them.

I agree a couple washes would go a long way, but a very nice start for your firsts.

Thanks for the comments. I'm only starting to learn how to use washes, so i'll look for a tutorial. Just remember to check out my gallery, i've got a few more photos there so please comment on them too.

Ugh, I feel bad for practicing something as terrible as Thread Necromancy (Don't tell the Inquisition, please!), but I just couldn't post anything because of lack of time. Still, here are a few shots of my finished Warboss.

Very nice and smooth. I'd chuck a wash on the skin. It's really worth it, especially since the skin is kind of a focal point of a model. They're really easy to use, you can get away with just covering all the skin and leaving it to dry. The wash will run into all the recesses.

First off, welcome to Daka and 40k. Second, good job man! I wish I was this good when I started painting, just remember your washes. I know it's easy to forget stePs when starting out but a wash can be the difference between a good model and a great model. Keep up the good work and the updates.

Well, aren't I lazy? 1 update every few weeks, such commitment! Anyway, the AoBR Orks are nearly finished, just need to paint up the rest of the Nobz and the Deffkoptas. I'm waiting to get the Nobz box first. I also have 1 Loota Boy finished, I think he came out ok but I have no idea how to paint his cigar so that it looks like it's lighted already. I know that some of them need to have their eyes painted. My friend borrowed red paint from me, so I'll fix that ASAP once I get the paint back.
