A friend of mine is a Blood Angels player, but really is unimpressed with the look of GW's design for the Storm Raven. So, another friend commissioned something a little more "aesthetically pleasing." We went with something more reminiscent of the Dropship from Aliens...

I'm not really convinced by the top...seems a bit bare. I think it'd help a lot if you added some more detailing to that big flat part, especially things like rivets and panel lines.

Other than that, seems like a pretty darn good execution of the idea, especially in the creative use of some of the parts.

I agree with Zefig, top is really bare, needs a large modelled tear drop, not just a painted one.

Nice model though all in all.

I like it, I agree that the top needs some work to take your eyes away from the box-ish look. Perhaps add some battle damage on that paint?

You like this more than the storm raven?

And its green?

I honestly don't know what to say.

On a more positive note, you definitely have the Dropship look down. Just not Blood Angels or Imperial at all.

It looks good, but I just can't shake the obviousness of the valkyrie parts. I would model it a bit more to make it look more space mariney, but thats just me

Being blood angels, couldn't it be a little more red? I just don't think it would fit in with a normal blood angels army.

Dwarves-about 2000 points, most unpainted. Kill me now.

I'd say more of a Colonial Marines feel

I really like the modeling on this one

I like the idea you have behind this, though i'm not completely convinced it's a blood angel ship. It looks like IG (as hershey said). There isn't much that leads me to believe this is SM, as it just seems too flat to me. Plus, aren't BA red? Having a dark green dropship doesn't seem right.

The modeling is well done though, so good job on that.

Thanks for the tips all. I appreciate them.

The coloring and design were part of the commission. The guy we did it for pretty much does things his own way. One of his tanks even has a Hello Kitty paintscheme. It's all about fun, right?

The top surface looked off.. especially between the engine intakes. I'll keep playing around with different designs and workin' on the techniques with different models. I appreciate the suggestions.
